SILVIA HRONCOVÁ ředitelka Opery Národního divadla a Státní opery ČESKO-SLOVENSKÉ MOZARTOVY NAROZENINY 2014 Tradiční koncert u příležitosti dne narození Wolfganga Amadea Mozarta pořádá Opera Národního divadla i letos 27. ledna 2014 ve Stavovském divadle. Pozvání tentokrát přijali dva vynikající pěvci mladé generace, slovenská mezzosporanistka Jana Kurucová, působící v berlínské Deutsche Oper, a pražskému publiku více než dobře známý český basbarytonista Adam Plachetka, který i přes své mimořádně úspěšné a časově náročné angažmá ve vídeňské Staatsoper je na jevišti Stavovského divadla stále jako doma. Spolu s touto česko-slovenskou pěveckou dvojicí vystoupí Orchestr Národního divadla pod vedením hudebního ředitele Opery Národního divadla Roberta Jindry. Jana Kurucová – mezzosoprán Jejími prvními kroky na operním jevišti byly úlohy v Mozartových operách (Druhá dáma v Kouzelné flétně a Ramiro v opeře La finta giardiniera). V sezoně 2005/06 byla členkou mnichovské Bayerische Staatsoper, kde zpívala např. v Humperdinckových operách Perníková chaloupka (role Mužíčka) a Královské děti (role Husopasky) pod vedením Fabia Luisiho. V letech 2006–09 působila v divadle v Heidelbergu. Rosinu, Cherubína, Fenenu (Verdi: Nabucco), Mercedes (Bizet: Carmen), Floru (Verdi: La traviata), Zerlinu (Mozart: Don Giovanni) a Melisandu (Debussy: Pélleas a Melisanda). Jako Idamante vystoupila také v pražském Národním divadle a v roce 2011 jako Cherubín v Teatro de la Maestranza v Seville. Jako Zerlina účinkuje v italském Bari. V Deutsche Oper vedle již uvedených rolí momentálně zpívá Lišáka (Janáček: Příhody lišky Bystroušky), Suzuki (Puccini: Madam Butterfly), Ascania (Berlioz: Trójané), Maffia Orsiniho (Donizetti: Lucrezia Borgia) s Editou Gruberovou a Pavolem Bršlíkem, Meg Page (Verdi: Falstaff) a Donnu Elvíru (Don Giovanni). Adam Plachetka – basbaryton V roce 2005 debutoval v Národním divadle v Praze. • SALZBURG FESTIVAL 20 July – 30 August 2018
SALZBURG FESTIVAL 20 July – 30 August 2018 Final Report on the 2018 Salzburg Festival (SF, 28 August 2018) The Festival summer began 40 days ago with Penderecki’s St. Luke Passion – and there are two days yet ahead of us. The 2018 programme of the Salzburg Festival included 206 performances at 18 performance venues. Now the time has come to draw a summary of this summer, which was marked by works of passion, rapture and ecstasy. “To me, happiness means seeing productions grow, instead of being merely manufactured. It is possible to enter into a pact with the audience: by meeting it with the respect it deserves, by honestly challenging it, intellectually and emotionally. I am particularly glad that the audience also greeted the works of the 20th century with great empathy,” says Artistic Director Markus Hinterhäuser. “100 years after the constitutive meeting of the association to promote the building of a festival theatre on 15 August 1918, our programme has done justice to our political mission. Naturally, art cannot offer solutions for the problems of our time. Nor do we wish to issue cheap political statements along party lines. However, using our productions to inspire questions in these times of premature answers – that we have managed quite well. The fact that our audience received these questions with enormous interest only encourages us to continue our line of programming,” says Festival President Helga Rabl-Stadler. “We proudly look back on a season that was highly successful, both in artistic and economic terms. With a 97% ratio of occupied seats and 260,875 tickets issued, the festival was able to repeat the successful results of the previous year.

Chief among them were that magician of the theatre Max Reinhardt, the poet Hugo von Hofmannsthal, the composer Richard Strauss, the stage designer Alfred Roller and the conductor Franz Schalk. Through our Ouverture spirituelle under the sign of Pax — Peace we call back to mind in this anniversary year of 2020 that founding principle of the Festival as a project dedicated to peace.

  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Die Zauberflöte
SALZBURG FESTIVAL 18 July – 30 August 2020 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Die Zauberflöte Joana Mallwitz © Nicolas Kroeger An Interview with Conductor Joana Mallwitz (SF, 3 January 2020) Magic opera, singspiel, a comedy with spectacular stage effects, Masonic ritual with Egyptian mysteries, heroiccomic opera? Die Zauberflöte is heard more often and has been more frequently performed, discussed, queried and interrogated than almost any other work in the history of opera. In 2018 Lydia Steier directed the new production of Die Zauberflöte at the Großes Festspielhaus. During the centenary, she presents a new version at the Haus für Mozart. The narrator guiding the audience through the action will be Roland Koch. The awardwinning conductor Joana Mallwitz will conduct the opera, thereby making her Festival debut. She conducts the Vienna Philharmonic and the Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Chorus. Tareq Nazmi takes on the role of Sarastro, Brenda Rae that of the Queen of the Night. Mauro Peter will revive his 2018 portrayal of Tamino; Regula Mühlemann sings his Pamina. Adam Plachetka and Maria Nazarova again transform themselves into Papageno and Papagena. Ilse Eerens, Sophie Rennert and Katarina Bradić sing the Three Ladies. The three boys will be embodied by three members of the Vienna Boys’ Choir. The premiere takes place on 3 August 2020. SALZBURG FESTIVAL 18 July – 30 August 2020 Ms. Mallwitz, Die Zauberflöte has a long tradition at the Salzburg Festival – it has seen 227 performances of the opera in the course of its history, making it the most frequently performed opera at the Festival. Have you explored past Salzburg interpretations of the work? Do you let them influence or even inspire you in any way? There is hardly any other work reflecting the zeitgeist and taste of different generations so clearly through the history of its interpretations as Die Zauberflöte.
