FOREWORD This Indian Standard (Third Revision ) was adopted by Bureau of Indi an Standards, a fter the draft finali zed by the Bicycles Sectional Committee had been approve d by the Tran sport E ngineering Div ision Council. This standard was first publ ished in 1955 and subseque ntly revised in 1963 and 1979. T he revision of this standard is being taken up to update the standard and to incor po rate latest seat pill ars be ing used in the bicycle industry.

The compositio n of the Com mittee res ponsible for the for mulation of this standard is given in Annex A. For the purpose of decid ing whether a particul ar requirem ent of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, express ing the results of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in acc ordance with IS 2 : 1960 'Rules for rounding off numerical values (revise d)'. Th e number ofsignificant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
