Title: GROWING CONVERSATION Design Team: WHERE Y’ART (Catherine Todd, Caitlin Waugh, Tish Douzart, Darcy Culp) Concept: Growing Conversation proposes an interactive conversation about community. What sources of nourishment feed the soul of New Orleans? How do we give to our community collectively and as individuals?

Title: NAVIGATING THE MAZE Design Team: crgarchitecture with Alfia White Concept: Navigating the Maze proposes the construction of an urban maze, diverting pedestrian traffic from the relentless linearity of the sidewalk through a series of short interconnected corridors, vertically and horizontally aligned with native plants locally growing in wetlands and swamps. Title: REFLECTIVE PROPERTIES Design Team: Design Jones (Diane Jones Allen, Austin Allen, Matty A. Williams, Kossen Miller) Concept: Reflective Properties is an interactive place for collecting and reflecting on others and the surrounding environment. It investigates human relationships and communication across space and technology. Title: SWAMP RETREAT Design Team: Ginette Bone, Mia Kaplan Concept: Visitors enter the Swamp Retreat walking on the lily pads floating on the reflective Mylar, so evocative of a bayou surface. Moving through the multi colored towering sculptures captures the experience of lush bayou vegetation. Title: SWING + SADDLE STOP Design Team: S3 (Peter Bennet, Naomi Doerner, Rachel Heiligman, Liz Lichtman, Joe Peraino, Vivek Shah) + Bike Easy + Ride New Orleans + Rubarb Concept: Swing + Saddle stop proposes an interactive design that welcomes alternative transportation users and Julia Street revelers to take a breather pre-, post-, or mid-commute, creating an exciting interplay between the sidewalk and our “park.” Title: THE JOY OF WATER Design Team: Dana Brown & Associates (Dana Brown, Chris Africh, Gaylan Williams, Amy Norval, Joe Pfeifer) + Global Green USA (Linda Stone, Jeff Supak, Michelle Pyne) + Urban Roots Garden Center (Tom Wolfe ) + Casa Borrega (Linda Stone, Hugo Montero)

Concept: The Joy of Water proposes to temporarily transform an existing public parking space along Julia Street into a vivid stormwater management exhibition that is aesthetic, educational, engaging, and vernacular. Title: OVERLAY Design Team: Tulane City Center (Marcella Del Signore, Bahareh Rana Javadi, Whitney Jordan, Jose Cotto) Concept: Overlay proposes an environment that fosters collective interaction through the experiential qualities of the space. Through the proposed programming, visitors are continuously engaged in a game field to instigate public interaction.

Restored Ornate Pediment over Entrance Before and After Recently, the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans Hotel began a $2 million refurbishment of the terra cotta façades of the two 100-year-old buildings that make up the hotel. Contractors used the original hand drawn blue prints of the structures and three- dimensional construction renderings to recreate and restore some of the ornate elements of the former Maison Blanche and S.H. Kress Co. department store buildings that have been lost or weathered over time. The hotel has occupied the two Canal Street buildings since 2000. A key feature of the project includes restoring an ornate pediment over the hotel entrance, which was the original entrance to the Maison Blanche building. The original terra cotta feature had been removed in the mid-1900s during a renovation. Click here for the nola.com story on the project.
