DEEPER INTO THE COUNTRYSIDE DEEPER INTO COMMUNITY DEEPER INTO GOD 1 Lee Abbey – a very special place Welcome!

Welcome to Lee Abbey, a special place where you are invited to nourish your heart. Our prayer for you elcome to our new programme for 2015. is that you may experience a new depth in the following ways, by going … We have very much appreciated your support over the last Wcouple of years. As you will know, Lee Abbey has two very important strings to her bow. One is the ongoing life of its residential Christian Community. With people joining our Community from eighteen different countries, most of them between 18 and 35 years of age, it is an exciting dynamic as we seek to mentor and equip leaders to go back out into the world to be salt and light for Jesus across the globe. This Community has a committed rule of life and rhythm of prayer and worship, and its main ministry focus is to express hospitality to the thousands of guests who join us here for our conference and retreat programme each year. Our roots are within the Church of England, however our Community are committed Christians from many church denominations and learn to worship and work together here all united in Jesus Christ. Our charity objectives are: “The advancement of the Christian faith worldwide through the ministry of a community or communities of Christians whose shared lives in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit communicate the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ.” This guest focus is our second string. Lee Abbey was originally set up in response to the Archbishop of Canterbury’s call Towards the Conversion of England way back in 1946. In that post-war period the Community consisted of folk from countries including England, Germany and Holland. In those days as today we seek to be a Community of reconciliation. We also serve to help renew and equip the church for mission around the UK and the rest of the world. This is resourced through our weekend Church Groups programme seeking to encourage and equip the “Church gathered” but also through our weekly programme serving to resource the “Church scattered”. Through our arts programme; or science and faith; faith and business; the environment; Fair Trade; literature and culture; leadership track; prayer and renewal weeks; Bible weeks or outdoor weeks (walking, birdwatching, forest church) and schools and youth programme with our Beacon Outdoor Activity Centre, we are here year-round to be God’s welcome to you! It would be lovely to see you in this coming year. Book early to be sure of your favourite accommodation. And please be assured of the prayers and warm welcome of our international Community.
