Rédei" Abstract Bagauda zetteli sp.n. collected near the entrance in Bat Cave, near Bilit, North Borneo, Malaysia, is de- scribed and figured. The new species is closely related to B. lucifugus MCATEE & MALLOCH, 1926 and B. furcosus RIBES, 1987. Key words: Heteroptera, Reduviidae, Emesinae, Leistarchini, Bagauda, new species, Borneo, cavernicolous Zusammenfassung Bagauda zetteli sp. n., gesammelt im Eingangsbereich der "Bat Cave" bei Bilit, Nord-Borneo, Malaysien, wird beschrieben und abgebildet. Die neue Art ist mit B. lucifugus MCATEE & MALLOCH, 1926 und B. furcosus RIBES, 1987 nächstverwandt. Introduction Bagauda BERGROTH, 1903 is a moderately species-rich genus distributed in the Oriental and Ethiopian Regions. Species described before 1965 with two newly described ones were keyed and surveyed by WYGODZINSKY (1966). Few years later VILLIERS (1970) also described two new species from Sri Lanka and presented a key to the Oriental fauna. RIBES (1987) complemented our knowledge on the genus with a further new spe- cies from Malaysia. At present, 18 species of the genus are known, nine of which are distributed in the Oriental Region (RIBES 1987, MALDONADO-CAPRILES 1990). Only B. furcosus RIBES, 1987 has hitherto been known from Borneo. Many species of the genus were reported to occur in caves. Cavernicolous emesines are recorded from caves in many parts of the world and are distributed across several genera, but are generally uncommon. P. labyrinthicus shows no obvious troglomorphy but ecological evidence suggests it is, at minimum, a cave-limited troglophile. The species seems to be low-humidity intolerant, due to its occurrence in a cave within a desert region, effectively confines the population to the cave, and the species may thus actually be troglobitic by default. Arachnophily in emesines is more common, including in Phasmatocoris Breddin, but has been previously documented in only a single cavernicolous species, Bagauda cavernicola Paiva, reported from India, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. However, unlike P. labyrinthicus, B. cavernicola is apparently not morphologically adapted for its arachnophilous association. P. labyrinthicus is the only known troglophilic emesine that is also a morphologically adapted and behaviorally functional arachnophile. The only other known cavernicolous Phasmatocoris (P. -

The new species is recognized by having the posterior pronotal lobe whitish to pale yellow with a large tuber- cle posteromedially, the lateral carina of the pronotum well developed and bent at one-third of the way from its anterior end, the scutellar spine long and bent in the middle, the profemur pale yellow with five brownish annula- tions, and other characters. Introduction At first glance, assassin bugs of the genus Empicoris Wolff, 1811 resemble to certain mosquitoes because of their small body, slender appendages, and black- and-white color pattern. A kutatási feladat összefoglalása és tudományos előzményei Magyarországon a teljes mezőgazdaságilag hasznosított területnek mindössze töredékén folyik gyógy- és aromanövények növények termesztése, ezen a kis területen azonban az ágazat igen jelentős árbevételt hoz létre. A gyógy- és aromanövények az utóbbi években jól megfigyelhetően az érdeklődés közép- pontjába kerültek. A természetes, növényi eredetű hatóanyagok gyógyszer- alapanyagként vagy közvetlenül történő felhasználásához való visszafordulás a fejlett országokban egyre erősebben jelentkezik. Az élelmiszer-előállításban is növekszik a fűszernövények iránti igény, s nemcsak a hagyományosan használt fajok piacán figyelhető meg élénkülés, hanem új fajok termesztésbe vonása is bővíti a választékot. A biotermesztés egyre szélesebb körű térnyerésével egyes aromanövények természetes hatóanyagú növényvédő készítmények formájában is felhasználásra kerülnek. Mindezen igények erősödése következtében a termesztett gyógy- és aromanövények köre és jelentősége hazánkban is egyre nő. A megtermelt gyógy- és aromanövények minőségének alapvető kritériuma a peszticidterhelés alacsony szintje. Sensillar structures of the antennal pedicel are investigated in Reduviidae and Pachynomidae. The cave organ, a pre sumably chemoreceptive structure, previously reported only for haematophagous Triatominae, is described here also for representa tives of Peiratinae, Reduviinae and Stenopodainae. The systematic implication of the occurrence of this sensillar structure is discussed. Further, four sclerites located in the membrane between pedicel and preflagelloid are described and used as landmarks for the recognition of individual trichobothria in Reduviidae and Pachynomidae. Characters of the trichobothrial socket are studied and discussed systematically. Homology of the distalmost trichobothrium of Reduviidae with the single trichobothrium in Pachynomidae is proposed. This hypothesis is based on the structure of the cuticle surrounding the trichobothria and on the trichobothrial position relative to the four sclerites of the pedicello-flagellar articulation. The single trichobothrium present in most nymphs corresponds to the distalmost trichobothrium in adult Reduviidae in position and structural detail.
