Some people see tradition and innovation as a contradiction. Not Victorinox. In the canton of Schwyz, Victorinox takes lumps of molten steel and blends it with generations of experience to forge knives, which are loved the world over. Experience what «made in Switzerland» means. Brunnen lies on the shore of the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) on its eastern branch, the Urnersee (Lake Uri). Brunnen is in the middle of William Tell country, nestling between Urmiberg and Stoos-Fronalpstock and opposite the Rütli Meadow (birthplace of Switzerland). Brunnen was popular with royalty in the 19th century: King Ludwig II of Bavaria visited in 1865. He liked to be rowed out to the middle of the lake at midnight to listen to nocturnal alphorn playing. In Brunnen hikers can take the «Weg der Schweiz» (The Swiss Path), a trail circuiting the Urnersee. This joint project of the Swiss cantons begins at the Rütli Meadow, birthplace of the Swiss Confederation, and ends in Brunnen at a square dedicated to the Swiss living abroad. 11.15 am Bus to Stoosbahn 11.30 am Stoosbahn – the world’s steepest funicular www.stoos-muotatal.ch The Stoos railways connect to the car-free mountain village Stoos – while setting a world record. The funicular railway from Schwyz to Stoos is the steepest in the world. A technical wonder, which makes the trip a one-of-a-kind experience. Once you reach Stoos, a paradise of stunning landscapes and holiday leisure awaits guests in summer and winter. The views of Lake Lucerne and the Central Swiss mountains from the Fronalpstock are unique. 12.45 pm Bus to Muotathal 1.00 pm Lunch Husky-Lodge www.erlebniswelt.ch The Hüttenhotel Husky Lodge stands for unique adventures in the pristine Muotatal nature combined with appropriate catering and unparalleled accommodation. The Erlebniswelt Muotathal is a specialist for guided hiking and trekking tours through the wild Muotatal landscape. Around 30 Siberian huskies live on the premises. Muotathal is synonymous with nature, pristine authenticity and tradition. The region is home to unique natural treasures such as the Hölloch cave system, the virgin spruce forest Bödmeren and the karst/limestone area Silberen. Geographically Muotathal belongs to the ten largest municipalities of Switzerland in terms of area. Most of the 3,543 residents live in the village. There are quiet unpopulated landscapes extending around the village with hiking trails and bike routes – amidst Alpine fields, forests, waterfalls, karst/limestone areas and mountains. The wild waters of the Muota are also a dominant feature of the landscape. 2.15 pm Husky programme Experience an eventful husky-powered scooter ride with a special four-legged friend full of energy and power away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You will visit the beautifully built husky enclosures and get to know the loveable sled dogs from up close. Your musher will tell you a lot of interesting facts about caring, keeping and working with sled dogs. Equipped with a special scooter you will go on an adventurous ride in the Muotathal mountain world. 4.15 pm Return to Lucerne by bus 5.15 pm Arrival to Lucerne (Parking behind KKL, Europaplatz 1, 6005 Luzern) .

Restoration measures to correct historic eutrophication, including artificial mixing and oxygenation of the hypolimnion, were implemented in 1984. By means of the combination of external and internal load reductions, total phosphorus concentrations decreased in the period 1984–2000 from 160 to 42 mg P m−3. Starting from 1997, hypolimnion oxygenation with pure oxygen was replaced by aeration with fine air bubbles. The reaction of the plankton has been investigated as part of a long-term monitoring program. Taxa numbers, evenness and biodiversity of phytoplankton increased significantly during the last 15 years, concomitant with a marked decline of phosphorus concentration in the lake. Seasonal development of phytoplankton seems to be strongly influenced by the artificial mixing during winter and spring and by changes of the trophic state. Dominance of nitrogen fixing cyanobacteria (Aphanizomenon sp.), causing a severe fish kill in 1984, has been correlated with lower N/P-ratio in the epilimnion.
