Earlier this year our Brownies and Rainbows group hit the allotment to plant a marigold for you. The girls really enjoyed the opportunity to take a trip to our small garden in Bellahouston to plant the marigold bulbs purchased thanks to the generosity of our supporters. The girls got their hands dirty as they worked towards their new ‘Grow Your Own’ badge. A huge thank you to everyone who supported our appeal, shared their Brownie and Girl Guide stories, and of course to cleaning brand Marigold for sending us a collection of goodies for the girls to use while they worked towards their badge. The bulbs are growing well and we’ll share a photo of them in bloom in the next edition of LOUD and CLEAR. A massive congratulations and thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Kiltwalk events across the country. We hope your feet have recovered! There were 12 categories of award, including Sports Achievement, Community Award and Sense Scotland Champion, all of which showcased the efforts of the people we support to improve their own, and other people’s lives. The awards were organised by the Our Voice group, who meet on a regular basis to discuss the issues that are important to them and the people who use our services. 4 LOUD and CLEAR L&C 55.indd 4 09/10/2019 16:34 The event also encompassed our annual ASDAN Awards, recognised qualifications that are developed and accredited for people with disabilities. This year we were delighted to award more than 50 people with qualifications in areas that include Current Affairs, Craft Making and Business Enterprise. In October nine individuals in the North East were presented with their ASDANs in a special ceremony in Ellon. A huge congratulations to all our award winners and ASDAN recipients. Mo with his ASDAN certificate Our Voice makes a noise at annual conference The ‘People We Support Awards’ were part of the Our Voice Conference 2019, Conference feedback which included activities such as health and wellbeing sessions as well as a visit from a local foodbank to talk about their work. After a fun party on Saturday night which included interactive dancing it was time to celebrate with those receiving awards. Well done to everyone for another successful event.
