STS NEWSLETTER

A VISIT WITH OUR SAFETY MANAGER, MARTY JACOBY

Putting our people first at STS matters each day. We want to share just what makes our team unique. The Manager of Safety, Marty Jacoby, has been with STS for over 6 years. We chatted with him and here are few words of wisdom he shared.

What do you enjoy most about your job each day?

“The main focus is Taking care of Our People and our Customers. We would not be here without them.” Marty said he strives to bring an upbeat and positive outlook to the workplace each day. “I hope that our people see/hear that in my voice, and find me approachable and willing to help. I want to present STS in a positive light and as a friendly place to work.”

What is your best safety advice to both new and seasoned drivers?

“Take a breath,” Marty said in every instance (whether a breakdown, accident, or simply getting out of your truck), take an extra minute and look around. Survey the situation. Familiarize yourself with your surroundings. Marty said he believes that one extra minute you take to ensure everything is Ok may save you from an accident or injury. It also could be what saves your life.

What has been a great accomplishment for you?

Marty shared ‘Watching my two daughters become Godly women, loving wives, and great mothers I’d like to think I had a small part in that.” He then noted, “probably nothing I did, but don’t burst my bubble”. Marty has been a great role model and leader at STS, and that carries over into all aspects of his life.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Marty said he is an avid boater. He loves being on the lake, and everything about it. Marty shared, “when Annie and I aren’t on the water, you can find me doing yard work, landscaping, and cooking. One of these days when/if I can retire, I plan to become a Master Gardener.”

Talking about cooking, we wondered what might be his Favorite meal?

Marty said he loves Bar B Que and some Sweet Baby Rays sauce.

Every BBQ requires a little music, right? So what about his Favorite song or music genre?

Suspicious Minds by . Marty claims this is the best song EVER. Marty said there have been many people doing their version of . He said he has a playlist of all the different artists that sing this song, and sometimes will listen to all of them back to back. Marty said, “If you ask me, and the Fine Young Cannibals have the two best renditions out there.” Marty also likes Sans the KING, of course. He also has a pretty large Album collection (800-1000) of mostly Classic Rock that he loves to take out and “spin some wax” when he has time. Marty shared, “even with all the technology we have musically these days, there is nothing better than the sound of vinyl.”

CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

Although the start of construction was delayed somewhat, we are happy to share that it is now well on the way, and completion of Phase 1 is almost complete. Foundations repairs are almost a wrap and the interior redesign will be up next. We are grateful to see the renovations and more than eager to welcome everyone back as quickly as possible. Currently, we are expecting construction to continue throughout the end of this year.

A FEW CHANGES TO ACCOMMODATE CONSTRUCTION:

1. THE OFFICE FACILITIES WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This will mean no employee entry will be permitted until construction is complete.

2. OFFICE EMPLOYEES WILL CONTINUE TO WORK OFFSITE. Office employees can still be contacted as normal using normal phone #’s and via Omnitracs.

3. STS SHOP WILL REMAIN OPEN. At this time, little interruption has occurred with the Smyrna Shop. Please continue to call STS Breakdown and speak to Anita regarding any scheduling for services that may be needed.

Jessica Frazier (Marketing and Recruiting Manager)

On August 17, 2020, the newest member of the STS family arrived. Jessica Frazier, Marketing and Recruiting Manager, and her husband Randy welcomed Jedidiah Stanley-Max into their family. He arrived a tad bit early and weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs. 5 oz. Jessica’s older son Josiah, who is 10 years old, is excited to be a big brother. Josiah can’t wait for Jedi to get a little older so that he can teach him to play ball. With two boys to care for, we are certain her days will be filled with noise, sports, and, of course, trucks! While we know Jessica is enjoying her time at home with these three guys, we sure can’t wait to have her back STS. Here’s to sleepless nights, schedules that don’t exist, and all the other wonders of a newborn. Congratulations once again Jessica and your beautiful family!
