A Message from Rob Williams, Chair of Council

I am delighted to present to you our Health and Well-being Directory, which has been created by Charlton Kings Parish Council to provide you with a ‘one-stop-shop’ of information on health services, support groups and social/ recreational activities on offer across Charlton Kings Parish, the wider area and beyond. As you can see from the listings on the following pages, there is a lot going on! The directory is part of a wider Parish Council project (CK Health Connect) that aims to combat loneliness and isolation and to link up people with the contacts and information they need to lead a happier and healthier life. This project was jointly funded by Gloucestershire County Council’s ‘Growing our Communities’ fund and supported by Councillors Klara Sudbury and Matt Babbage, to whom we are most grateful. I would also like to acknowledge the hard work put in over the last nine months by our community development worker Amanda Wragg, and the input of Parish Councillors past and present, especially Joanna Hughes and Lynda Johnson, working in partnership with representatives from many organisations across the parish. The Parish Council is also working with the NHS Directory Services Team to develop a dedicated website for the directory, as a resource for our local doctors and frontline support workers and creating a possible blueprint for other areas of Gloucestershire. This is an initiative that has worked very positively in other parts of the UK, resulting in improved rates of patient and client recovery, reduced hospital admissions and better overall well-being. Quick and easy access to information, for both practitioners and our community, will continue to be so important as we move together through the many health and well-being challenges of Covid-19 over the coming months. We hope you find the Health & Well-being Directory interesting and informative, but above all useful. We would welcome any feedback you may have, so please get in touch with any comments at: [email protected] If you would like to find out more, further information on this project can be found at: https://www.charltonkingsparishcouncil.gov.uk/charlton-kings-health-connect.html
