SAINT ELIZABETH ANN SETON St. Elizabeth was married into wealth at a young age, and the first few years of their marriage was bliss. It didn’t take long for suffering to find her as she lost her husband’s parents, and shortly a er her husband. She was widowed at a young age with five children when she first began teaching for schools and working with poor widows. She converted to Catholicism around this me and was persecuted by friends and family for it, but never surrendered her faith. She also lost two of her children to the same disease that took her husband. Despite this grief she connued to trust and follow God’s will. She became a religious sister and founded the order Sis- ters of Charity. They opened up many schools for girls and the poor, which were almost non-existent at the me, as well as orphanages. This remarkable woman is also the first canonized nave born saint of the United States. We are blessed to have such an incredible for our vibrant, young parish!
