Anahtar Kelimeler : Hazar, Karaçay-Malkar, Karaim, Kırımçak, Kumuk AbstraCt Unfortunately there is not left any written works behind Khazar Turkish which is deemed to be one of the dialects of old Turkish. In our work primarily key voices, forms and the words of Khazar Turkish have been determined with respect to the features of voice and forms of the existing words remaining from that period. Apart from these determined key features it have been determined the mu- tual aspects of Karachay-Malkar, Karaim, Krymchak and Kumuk Turkish which are known as the remnants of Khazar and it has been intended to reveal the vocabulary of Khazar Turkish. Key Words : Khazar, Karachay-Malkar, Karaim, Kırımchak, Ku- muk Önceleri Göktürk Devletine bağlı olan Hazar Hakanlığı bu devletin iç ve dış savaşlar neticesinde yıkıldığı 630–650 yılları arasındaki süreçte devlet olma temellerini atmıştır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Hazarlar, Doğu Roma, Siyasi İlişkiler FROM ALLIANCE TO HOSTILITY THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KHAZARS AND EAST ROME IN CAUCASUS AND EASTERN EUROPE ABSTRACT The Khazars of the Turkish Khanate, which was extending from the Caucasus to Eastern Europe with strong organization, live trading, religious intolerance in 7-10. Centuries first appeared in the Don and İdil regions. The assets of the Khazars in these regions firstly based on their military forces; and then on mutual interest, trade and alliance relations. The state with which the Khakars had the best allied relationship is the Eastern Roman Empire. Except the period of II.

The Dutch fighters that defended the Pontifical States (1860-1870): Problem and solution perceptions of the then Dutch government Bauke, Douwe, and Matthijs Walta from Friesland, the Netherlands Roos Machielse – s1746103 Crisis and Security Management Master Thesis 10 June 2018 Thesis supervisor: Dr. C.W. Hijzen Second reader: Dr. G.G. de Valk Word amount: 30.993 Dutch fighters in the defense of the Pontifical States (1860-1870): a familial connection In 1860, the Pontifical States under Pope Pius IX were threatened by Italians fighting for unity of the Mediterranean island. A multinational fighting force consisting of thousands of young Catholics from various continents left their homes to fight for the Pope.1 Between 1866 and 1870, my great-great-great grandfather Matthijs Walta and his two brothers Bauke and Douwe Walta (see front page) left Friesland, the Netherlands, to participate in the defense of the Pontifical States. With my ancestors leaving the Netherlands to join an armed struggle abroad 150 years ago, a phenomenon that is still highly relevant today, the topic raised my interest to research the defense of the Pontifical States as a historical case more in depth in this Master Thesis. • BYZANTINE ROYAL ANCESTRY Emperors, 578-1453
GRANHOLM GENEALOGY BYZANTINE ROYAL ANCESTRY Emperors, 578-1453 1 INTRODUCTION During the first half of the first century Byzantium and specifically Constantinople was the most influentional and riches capital in the world. Great buildings, such as Hagia Sophia were built during these times. Despite the distances, contacts with the Scandinavians took place, in some cases cooperation against common enemies. Vikings traded with them and served in the Emperors’ Court. Sweden’s King Karl XII took refuge there for four years after the defeat in the war against Peter the Great of Russia in Poltava. Our 6th great grandfather, “ Cornelius von Loos” was with him and made drawings of many of the famous buildings in that region. The Byzantine lineages to us are shown starting fr o m different ancestors. There are many royals to whom we have a direct ancestral relationship and others who are distant cousins. These give an interesting picture of the history from those times. Wars took place among others with the Persians, which are also described in the book about our Persian Royal Ancestry. Additional text for many persons is highlighted in the following lists. This story begins with Emperor Tiberius II, (47th great grandfather) born in 520 and ends with the death of Emperor Constantine XI (15th cousin, 17 times removed) in battle in 1453. His death marked the final end of the Roman Empire, which had continued in the East for just under one thousand years after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. No relations to us, the initial Emperor of the Byzantine was Justin I , born a peasant and a swineherd by initial occupation, reigned 518 to 527.
