Application Type: Strategic Housing Development Site Location and Description The site is a 2.88 hectare site situated to the east of Connolly Station, south of Seville Place and southwest of existing two-storey houses at Oriel Hall off Oriel Street Upper. The site is bounded to the east by Oriel Street Upper, which has a mix of two and three-storey houses and apartment buildings on the opposite side, and by Sheriff Street Lower to the south. The site extends to a point at the junction of Oriel Street Upper and Sheriff Street Lower, with an existing single storey redbrick building in this area. The site then extends north and west along Sheriff Street Lower facing existing mixed use blocks dating from the 1990s on the south side of the street. The site includes an existing luggage store and workshop building which are set within the boundary wall, a protected structure, along the southern boundary of the site on the northern side of Sheriff Street Lower. The bulk of the site is occupied by the car park of Connolly Station, which is accessed from Sheriff Street Lower. -

He was formerly a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering and one-time Dean of Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. Dr Cox is a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, a Fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineering, a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the current chairman of the Engineers Ireland Heritage Society. Recent publications include Civil Engineering Heritage: Ireland (1998), Ireland’s Bridges (2003), Engineering Ireland (2006), and Ireland’s Civil Engineering Heritage (2013). The stories are not marketing copy, although stakeholders can use them to inform their marketing – and can use the copy (whole or in part) in their promotional work if they wish. WHY STORIES We are storytelling animals. Since earliest times, people have used stories to make sense of the world. Nothing hooks and holds human attention like stories. Stories have a rhythm and a shape – an arc and a flow – that means we remember them. They tap into our emotions and paint pictures in our imaginations. In tourism, we’re in the business of emotions, of transformative experiences, of mood-enhancing moments, and of making memories. -
