Painting the Stars: Science, Religion and an Evolving Faith and The Journey of the Universe

You are invited to join with others from the Greater Suffield community in an 8-week explora- tion of science, evolution and an ever emerging Christian faith. Painting the Stars explores the promise of evolutionary Christian spirituality. Following seven 20-minute video presentations featuring over a dozen leading theologians and progressive thinkers, The Reverend Carr of Sec- ond Baptist Church, Reverend Fidler and others will lead discussion about how conversation with science can move us in our prayer/spiritual lives as followers of the Way of jesus. These series th We want to wish everyone who has a birthday during the months of September and October - a begins on Monday, September 15 held at First Church, Congregational in Smith Chapel at 7 p.m. th very Happy Birthday. We hope you special day is full of family, friends and fun. and will be held every other Monday through December 8 .

The seven-part series will begin on September 15th with a showing of the film “The Journey of the Universe.” This film has been shown on PBS television in the U.S. and around the world and is a guide through the story of what no previous generation knew - the ways in which galaxies and stars, planets and living beings merged within the rest of the universe and what role we humans play in this 14 billion year process. It weaves together modern science and enduring wisdom from the world’s cultures, calling us to awe, wonder and a yearning for deeper intimacy with life and with God, the Creator, the ground of all existence.

The schedule for the series is as follows: September 15th and 29th; October 13th and 27th; Novem- ber 10th and 24th; December 1st and 8th. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite those who do not have a church community to explore their spirituality in an atmosphere that invites questions. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Bridget at [email protected]. Happy Anniversary to all those couples who are celebrating their wedding anniversary in September or October
