4 ‘When I saw the test was positive I was over the moon,’ says Brooke WWW.OK.CO.UK 5 Did you cry? I didn’t cry until I told my mum and then we both started crying. I was at home when I found out so I had my dinner and then went straight round to my mum’s. I’m terrible at keeping secrets so I had to tell her straight away.
How did Kean react? I think we were both in a bit of a shock. We were just looking at each other like, oh my God! I don’t think either of us knew how to react, there was just a sense of total disbelief. I think that’s why I went to my mum’s because I needed a bit of time to process what was actually happening.
Was the pregnancy planned? Yes, but we actually thought it would take a lot longer than it did. Kean and I have always wanted children and we’ve seen how hard it was for some of our friends to conceive so we decided to let nature take its course. Every day I think about how lucky I am that it happened so quickly, it’s not something I’m taking for granted. ‘I’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A MUM BUT I’VE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO IMAGINE MYSELF WITH KIDS’
How are you feeling about being a mum? I think it’s going to make me really soft, I’m already so emotional! I’ve been playing songs to the bump and sometimes I sit and cry about how much I love my baby! I’ve always wanted to be a mum, so I’m really excited. I have a lot of godchildren and Kean’s sisters have children so that’s the closest thing I have to being a mum at the moment. I love spending time with them and they give me so much love, I can’t wait to have a child I don’t have to give back!

By then it looked like a real baby, it was jumping around all over the place, which was mad. I cried at all three of my scans because I can never believe what I’m seeing. I love going for scans, we always combine it with going out for food so it feels like a real occasion.
Have you discussed names yet? We can’t even decide what we’re going to have for tea, let alone what to call our baby. ‘I HOPE OUR CHILD IS A SHOW OFF I WANT IT TO BE A PERFORMER

What type of birth do you want? I know I want Kean and my mum in the delivery room with me but that’s all I’ve decided. I worry about everything and have a tendency to overthink things, so I’m trying not to think that far ahead.
How has it been working while pregnant? I’ve not been that busy recently, which has been quite helpful. Is pregnancy what you expected it to be like? I’ve always had a hard time imagining myself pregnant. You see a lot of celebrities on Instagram who look absolutely brilliant during pregnancy and they make it look so effortless, but that isn’t always a true reflection of real life. It’s really important to me that I’m honest with people about the fact pregnancy might not always be a walk in the park. Luckily I think people are becoming more aware that what they see on social media isn’t always the whole story.
Do you know how long you’ll take for maternity leave? I’ve not thought about it yet. Corrie are really supportive so I’m sure they’ll let me take as long as I need.
How are you feeling about being quite a young mum? My mum had me when she was 24 and we have a really close relationship so I’m hoping that will happen for me. If I’m half the mother my mum is then I’ll be happy. I know I’m fairly young but I’m surrounded by people I can ask for advice. I’ve been told all about nappy rash and what to do if they get reflux and I’ve been told all the gadgets I need to buy. I’ve turned into a review reader, I spend half my life online, recently I was reading about what a baby shusher actually is.
You’re a fitness fan. Have you continued to work out during the pregnancy? I wanted to take it easy during the first few months but I’m going to start swimming and I might take up pregnancy yoga. I actually went to a yoga class with Sair Khan [who plays Alya Nazir] the morning before I found out I was pregnant and it made me feel so tired and nauseous. At the time it seemed weird but now I know it’s because I was pregnant. It’s surreal to see my body changing so much. I think I’m already quite big for how far along I am and my nanna ‘IF I’M HALF THE MOTHER THAT MY MUM IS THEN I’LL BE HAPPY’
keeps telling me that I’ve got wider and that I have put weight on my face [laughs]. I love my bump, I can’t stop touching it. I’ve been touching my stomach loads since the day I found out.
Are you and Kean living together now? We moved into an apartment together in January and we’re currently looking to buy a house. I don’t know why we’re trying to do something so stressful while I’m pregnant but I’m hoping it’ll be a good distraction and make Brooke and Kean the pregnancy go much quicker. 46 I was out. I rang the midwife who told me to come in, but when I got to the hospital my contractions weren’t starting naturally so they sent me home for 24 hours. Elliott: Rather than going home we checked ourselves into a hotel next to the hospital so we were close by. We told our families what was happening and the next thing we knew loads of them had booked themselves rooms, too. I was like, her waters haven’t even broken yet, what are you doing? What about Mark and Michelle? Elliott: They met him while we were in the UK after he was born. We went to Essex to see them and all of my extended family. Everyone turned up with loads of gifts, he was really spoilt. We’re having him christened in a few weeks so they’ll be coming over for that.

t’s nine o’clock on a Tuesday morning at London’s Hotel Café Royal and OK! is enjoying a cuppa with Stacey Solomon. The Loose Women panellist has a rare ability to put Ieveryone at ease with her self-deprecating charm, honesty and sense of humour and we quickly find ourselves giggling along with her about everything from sweaty boobs to mum guilt. Back in February, Stacey, 29, announced she was expecting her first child with her partner of three years, fellow TV presenter Joe Swash, 37. But despite her sunny demeanour, Stacey’s not finding pregnancy a walk in the park. ‘I don’t love being pregnant,’ Stacey confesses to us, quickly adding: ‘But we are so happy and so looking forward to what’s to come.’ While Stacey has found out the baby’s sex, she and Joe are keeping it to themselves until the birth. Both Stacey and Joe have sons from previous relationships – Stacey’s boys Zachary, 11, and Leighton, six, and Joe’s son Harry, 11 – and she reveals the boys would like another man in the house! ‘Oh they want a boy! Another little worm-eating boy! They’re over the moon about the whole thing, so, so excited,’ Stacey giggles. Here Stacey opens up about her fears of postnatal depression, taking care of herself while pregnant and why this baby may be her last…
How are you, Stacey? I’m really, really great – tired and achy, though. I’m lucky if I make it back through the front door at the end of the day before I want to take my bra off and get my jogging bottoms on. I do that ‘bra out of the sleeve’ manoeuvre on the way home! Bras feel horrible when you’re pregnant, don’t they? My boobs rested on my tummy even before pregnancy, so now everything’s just sort of joined up. I get very Stacey celebrates sweaty boobs! I have days where I think getting pregnant is the best thing we’ve ever done, and then I have moments where I think I’m ruining the lovely dynamic I have with my boys. The other day I was holding both of their hands and I couldn’t help but think, I don’t have a third hand for the new baby.
You’ve been very open about battling postnatal depression after the birth of Zachary – does that play on your mind? Of course it’s a worry. That’s why there are such big age gaps between my children as I was so worried about putting myself back in that difficult place, mentally. I was 18 when I had Zach and felt so disconnected from him. My mum sent me on holiday to Kos when he was 12 weeks old and it was the best thing she could have ever done. I missed him so much and when I came back I felt bonded to him and could get on with being a mum. But then with Leighton I had a completely different pregnancy again, a much better experience. So you just never know how your body, and your hormones, will react.
Are you trying to keep fit while you’re pregnant? I’ve started taking the boys swimming which keeps me active and means I get to spend some proper time with them. Leighton recently said I hadn’t held him since I’d been pregnant, which broke my heart, as obviously he’s spent the last six years being my baby. Swimming makes everything easier because when I’m in the water I can cuddle him without the big weight! Usually I’m a very active mum, running around the park and carrying them, so they’ve definitely noticed a change in me. Leighton’s not going to be the baby for much longer.
Do you think you and Joe will have any more after this baby? Oh I don’t know. I don’t know if I could go through pregnancy again. And I want to be able to give every child the same amount of love; I’m not sure my love could split any more ways! If I could, I would have an entire pack of children, and I’d adopt and I’d love to foster, too. But right now we’re just happy and feel so, so privileged to be in this position. Do you feel mum guilt? Was writing your book Happily Imperfect one of your proudest moments? It was, I found writing it extremely therapeutic. There are so many books out there telling you ‘how to’ do things so I was really excited to deconstruct those ideas and do the opposite.

Would you like to start a family in the future? Ali: We really hope to be blessed with a family at some point. At the moment we have two little dog children, and we missed them when we were away!
Ali, now you’re back on set, do you have to take your wedding ring off? It’s pinned on to the inside of my bra so I have it with me all the time! It was the wardrobe lady’s suggestion as I didn’t want to leave it laying around while I was filming. The hair and make-up team had made me feel so special in the run-up to the wedding – I brought them back some of the fortune cookies and sweets from our wedding, just as a small way to say thanks. How did it feel to be the winning captain on the first series of The Greatest Dancer? Oh, it was amazing – four weeks of intense live shows! It was lovely to see Ellie grow throughout the competition. Before Strictly, when I was dancing in Germany, I was always working with kids, so I felt like this is what I grew up doing. But we never thought we were going to win. I’m still in contact with Ellie.

I feel like my delivery with that scene was good enough for people to buy into it. We did touch on the fact that these things do happen day to day but it isn’t acceptable.
Is Billy’s romance with Tracy going to develop? She caught him slamming his brother Ellis [Asan N’Jie] against the wall and she doesn’t agree with the violence, but we’ll have to wait and see if there’s more to come.
Who do you share a dressing room with? The naughtiest guys on the show! Danny [Miller], Ryan [Hawley] and Asan. We play a lot of pranks on each other. We have ceilings where you can remove panels and we’ve been hiding shoes there. Asan had stickers stuck on his car because he can’t park! We’re always terrorising each other’s cars. Danny injured me when he piled into me when we were playing a charity football match. Danny scored so I ran up to him and he jumped on me. I fell back onto his knees!
