The genus Annona is the most economically important one, containing 120 species. The opportunity for breeding improvement in the annona is significant and challenging. There is a lot more species are available but certain inherent constraints are involved like: long juvenility, higher levels of heterozygosity and large area requirement for assessment of hybrids. On the other hand, wide range of diversity and ease of vegetative hybrid propagation are the advantages for the breeders. There are very few man made commercially important hybrids. Its development is mostly based on the selection of clones were made for fruit quality only. Requirements of a good cultivar involve: dwarfness, precocity and profuse bearing, attractive, good sized and quality fruit, absence of physiological disorders, disease and pest resistance and improved shelf life etc. Comprehensive knowledge about the phenology and advanced techniques for hybridization have been quite helpful to overcome the problems like poor eating and keeping quality. The development of the genetic markers has further reduced the uncertainty in breeding of annona and maintaining the hybrid populations in a better way. Abstract approved: Redacted for Privacy David While much research has examined the intricate interactions associated with the harvesting of wild animals for human consumption, little work has been undertaken in attempting to understand the greater socio-cultural significance of such use. In addition, to properly understand such systems of interaction, an intimate knowledge is required with regard to the rationale or motivation of resource users. In present day Mali, West Africa, the population perceives and upholds wildlife as a resource not only of valuable animal protein, in a region of famine and drought, but a means of generating income. The animal parts trade is but one mechanism within the larger socio-cultural structure that exploits wildlife through a complex human-environmental system to the benefit of those who participate. Moreover, this informal, yet highly structured system serves both cultural and outsider demand through its goods and services. By using traditional ethnographic investigation techniques (participant observation and semi-structured interviews) in combination with thick narration and multidisciplinary analysis (socio- cultural and biological-environmental), it is possible to construct a better understanding of the functions, processes, and motivation of those who participate. In this context, the objective of this work was to investigate the vegetative and reproductive phenological behavior of sugar apple under the savanna conditions of the state of Roraima. The experiment was carried out in four seasons of the year (2014/2014 and 2015/2015 rainy season and 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 Summer). Production pruning was carried out in February 2014 (2014.1 cycle), September 2014 (2014.2 cycle), February 2015 (2015.1 cycle) and September 2015 (2015.2 cycle). Forty plants were monitored during the experiment and evaluated every three days for the following variables: beginning date of bud swelling; duration of flowering; and fruit harvest time.

ABSTRACT Cancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Since Annonacea members possess lot of medicinal properties such as cytotoxic, immune modulator, etc., they are being used as a natural remedy for a wide range of illnesses. The study accounts for the pharmacological applications of Annona reticulata, Annona squamosa, Annona muricata leaf extracts individually, and in combination. Annona squamosa extract exhibited highest antioxidant activity compared to the other two extracts which has been validated mathematically. The combination of all the three extracts has been found effective against both Bacillus cereus and Streptococci sp.. Annona squamosa significantly inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Annona squamosa has been found to be effectual against Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger and Cryptococcus. The combination of all three samples exhibits higher apoptosis of cancer cells compared to Annona muricata extract. Er wird unter normalen Bedingungen 8–12 Meter hoch. Die Blätter ähneln Lorbeerblättern und sitzen wechselständig an den Zweigen. Die Blüten bestehen aus drei Kelch- und Kronblättern, sind länglich und von grüngelber Farbe. Sie verströmen einen aasartigen Geruch und locken damit Fliegen zur Bestäubung an. Die Frucht des Guanábana ist eigentlich eine große Beere. Sie wird bis zu 40 Zentimeter lang und bis zu 4 Kilogramm schwer. In dem weichen, weißen Fruchtfleisch sitzen große, schwarze (giftige) Samen. Die Fruchthülle ist mit weichen Stacheln besetzt, welche die Überreste des weiblichen Geschlechtsapparates bilden.
