• Edwin Arlington Robinson - Poems
Classic Poetry Series Edwin Arlington Robinson - poems - Publication Date: 2012 Publisher: Poemhunter.com - The World's Poetry Archive Edwin Arlington Robinson(22 December 1869 – 6 April 1935) Edwin Arlington Robinson was an American poet who won three Pulitzer Prizes for his work. Biography Robinson was born in Head Tide, Lincoln County, Maine, but his family moved to Gardiner, Maine, in 1870. He described his childhood in Maine as "stark and unhappy": his parents, having wanted a girl, did not name him until he was six months old, when they visited a holiday resort; other vacationers decided that he should have a name, and selected a man from Arlington, Massachusetts to draw a name out of a hat. Robinson's early difficulties led many of his poems to have a dark pessimism and his stories to deal with "an American dream gone awry". His brother Dean died of a drug overdose. His other brother, Herman, a handsome and charismatic man, married the woman Edwin himself loved, but Herman suffered business failures, became an alcoholic, and ended up estranged from his wife and children, dying impoverished in a charity hospital in 1901. Robinson's poem "Richard Cory" is thought to refer to this brother. In late 1891, at the age of 21, Edwin entered Harvard University as a special student. He took classes in English, French, and Shakespeare, as well as one on Anglo-Saxon that he later dropped. His mission was not to get all A's, as he wrote his friend Harry Smith, "B, and in that vicinity, is a very comfortable and safe place to hang".

SRO Artists, Inc. http://www.sroartists.com | [email protected] PHONE: (608) 664.8160 FAX: (608) 664.8161 ARTIST BIO: KARLA BONOFF (revised 11/2010) p. 1 of 2 Born and raised in Southern California, Karla Bonoff was a songwriter by the age of fifteen. She and her sister Lisa were writing songs and playing as a duo titled "The Daughters of Chester P" named after their father, Dr. Chester Paul Bonoff. She had already fallen in love with the guitar and studied with Frank Hamilton of the famous folk group, The Weavers. By 16, Karla and her sister Lisa auditioned for Elektra Records. An 11-song demo [recorded by Doors' engineer Bruce Botnick] was recorded but no deal came of this first effort. Karla's sister became a teacher of history and religion, but Karla's passion was always music. She became friends with other singer-songwriters and musicians [in the '60s] who were creating their own unique sound. She talks about lining up at the legendary Troubadour at noon on Mondays to get a slot in the famous Monday night Troubadour "hoot," which was a breaking ground for many artists who went on to great success. She says, "It was an amazing time. Jackson Browne, James Taylor and Elton John were around the Troubadour in those days." There were some other writer-singers who became friends of Karla's, and eventually, they decided to put a band together. They were Kenny Edwards, (who had started the Stone Poneys with Linda Ronstadt and Bobby Kimmel), Wendy Waldman, and Andrew Gold.

Albums released by Camden included ones released by RCA of Canada using the same numbering system. • Volume Xviii -Number 20 February 2, 1957
VOLUME XVIII -NUMBER 20 FEBRUARY 2, 1957 X Marty Robbins and Guy Mitchell happily sing out the number one song in the country. “Singing The Blues”. Each singer has his own version of it on the Columbia label, and so successful was this method that they’ve tried it again with their latest disk, "Knee Deep In The Blues”. Moreover, with the new record, each singer seems to have a smash on the other side also. In Guy Mitchell's case, it's “Take Me Back Baby".
