The 41st edition of this event takes place on 23 – 26 May 2019. Amersfoort Jazz is yearly visited by about 80.000 people, who enjoy four days of World Jazz, adventurous and improvised music, an eclectic mix of musical genres and cultural traditions from all over the world. Amersfoort Jazz is featuring 350 different artists at 18 dedicated stages, proudly presenting living legends as well as young talents and international laureates, who are introduced to the audience and a worldwide festival scene. Each year, Amersfoort Jazz pays particular attention to World Jazz from a specific country abroad. Amersfoort is regarded as one of the cultural cities in the Netherlands. Its historic inner city, known for its well preserved medieval walls, squares and monasteries, is the ideal place for a diverse and dynamic music festival like Amersfoort Jazz. For more information about the festival, please visit • www.amersfoortjazzz.nl Ambassade van Israël DEN HAAG Embassy of Israel THE HAGUE NATIONAL ARTIST IN RESIDENCE The National Artist in Residence at Amersfoort Jazz 2019 is the outstanding Dutch pianist/keyboard player Jasper van ‘t Hof, who was last year awarded the Buma Boy Edgar Prize, widely regarded as the most prestigious award in the field photo: Amke of jazz and improvised music in The Netherlands. JASPER VAN ‘T HOF Born into a musical family in Van ‘t Hof performs on Saturday May 1947, Jasper van ’t Hof grew up 25, in a duo with the Dutch honored surrounded by music. Het orkest is het niet eens met een besluit van de Vlaamse regering over de subsidiëring. Het is al de tweede keer dat het BJO dit bij de Raad van State aankaart. Het BJO kreeg in 2002 een subsidie toegekend van ‘min- stens 180.000 euro’, fors lager dan was voorgesteld in twee adviezen. Met name vanwege het gebrek aan motive- ring voor deze lagere vaststelling, legde het Brussels Jazz Orchestra de zaak voor aan de Raad van State, die het orkest 22 mei 2008 in het gelijk stelde en het besluit ver- nietigde. Vanwege die vernietiging moest de Vlaamse regering op 7 november 2008 een nieuw besluit nemen over de Vlaamse muzieksubsidies. Dat viel niet wezenlijk anders uit dan het oorspronkelijke besluit.
