FINALLY BACK AT HOME

Welcome back to Maesdu Park once again as we prepare for this festive local derby against Colwyn Bay, who currently sit in third place in the JD Cymru North. There’s some familiar faces at The Bay and it will be good to welcome them back to Llandudno for the game.

It’s been a frustrating month for Llandudno, with three league games being called off, leaving us far behind the rest of the teams in terms of games played, but we put that behind us to produce a fantas- tic display against Rhyl away last weekend, although it did come at a cost with three players being sent off.

This team has proven that they can beat anyone on their day, but there’s no doubt we’ll have to be at our best to get something from the game today, a win would put us a lot closer to where we want to be .

Enjoy the game and we’ll see you back in 2020!

Proud Supporters of Llandudno FC LLANDUDNO FC A BRIEF HISTORY OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

Football in Llandudno dates back to 1878 when a club, probably known as Gloddaeth Rovers was in existence for around a decade. The club was formed for the purpose of providing activity for cricketers during their close season. SA full international Wales v Ireland was played on the “council field” in 1988.

Llandudno were founder members of the Welsh National League (North) in 1921 and were champions in 1923 and League Cup winners in 1930. The club won the N.W.C.F.A in 1926 and the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1929. Controversy struck the club in 1931 when the F.A.W instructed them to play East Wales, which Llandudno refused and were suspended.

Llandudno were also founder members of the Welsh League (North) in 1935 and remained in the league until war broke out in 1939 and then re-joined in 1945 up until 1974. Llandudno were league champions in 1936 and repeated the feat the following season, in addition the club regained the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1948 and 1962, the Alves Cup in 1951 and the Cookson Cup in 1965.

The club moved to its current home at Maesdu Park in 1991 after the “council field” was used for the construction of the ASDA store in the late 1970’s, now the new Parc MBi Maesdu. The current ground was officially opened in 1991 and floodlights were added in 1994. The following season saw the erection of a clubhouse and two small stands which provides covered seating for 130 spectators.

The club has then went under major transitions, with the addition of a new press box, built by local lad Cyril “Ciz” Williams who tragically died while construction was ongoing, and it is surely a testament that such a great number of friends were determined to finish his work and the building stands as a fitting memorial to this wonderful man. In the 2004/05 season the current dressing rooms were built, and the grandstands with disabled access. In the 2014/15 season major developments continued with the addition of a brand new entrance foyer, fitted with an educational suite, and a state of the art 3G pitch alongside the introduction of a thriving community arm, and for the first time in the clubs history Llandudno Football Club earned promotion into the Welsh Premier League.

The club then reached an agreement with sportswear giants Adidas to be their official kitwear supplier until at least 2017, along with major kit sponsors from W.R. Davies Renault and the UPVC Outlet. The good news didn’t stop there as more redevelopments took place around the ground with the introduc- tion of a brand new TV gantry and 75 seater stand.

At the end of the 2015/16 season, and in Llandudno’s debut year in the top tier of Welsh football, we gained automatic promotion to the Europa League after a third placed finish. Llandudno had earned themselves a tie against two time European Cup Winners IFK Goteborg in the first qualifying round, on- ly to be outmuscled 7-1 on aggregate, with Danny Hughes the name in history scoring for his hometown club. An experience the club and the town were extremely proud of, and one that will never be forgotten as we look to replicate it year upon year.

All this wouldn’t be possible without the support and the dedication from our tirelessly working volun- teers, and so here you find us as one club, one community. LLANDUDNO FC MATCH SPONSOR OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

Good afternoon to everyone and from the management and players we hope you all had a bril- liant Christmas, we hope to have a cracker in store here at Maesdu Park today.

Derby day around Christmas always brings with it excitement and this must be on of the most ea- gerly anticipated games that feature in the festive program. We are all looking forward for this one.

It seems like an age ago since we last played a home game, our 4-0 win over Penrhyncoch back in early November was the last home game we had. We have also had a number of games called off, which has been very frustrating as we feel like the momentum and rhythm we had built up on our mini run has been dampened. But credit to the players, during this frustrating time they have continued to train extremely well and have worked hard to prepare for this run of games.

Since the Penrhyncoch game we have unfortunately been knocked out of the after a 5-1 loss down at Afan Lido, this was disappointing but we have had good fun in the cup this sea- son. Then last Saturday we managed to pick up a very good win away to Rhyl to complete our first double of the season. The lads played extremely well to secure an impressive 3 points but it came at a cost, with red cards shown to Scott, Dean and Sam, meaning all 3 will miss this after- noon and the also the next two fixtures.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our near neighbours Colwyn Bay and to their manage- ment team, who are familiar to Maesdu Park, Craig Hogg, Mark Orme and Neil Coverely. Colwyn Bay are a very strong side who have done very well in their first season back in the Welsh sys- tem. We know we are in for a huge test this afternoon, but we got the players in this week for some festive training and are as prepared as we can be.

In terms of the squad, we are pleased to welcome back Bry Roberts into the squad and also will get a first look at Jamie McDaid, a summer signing who is yet to feature. We will be without Scott, Sam and Dean through suspension.

We hope you have a great afternoon and hope the game matches the occasion.

Belle Vue, Rhyl

RESULT: Rhyl 0-1 Llandudno

MATCH REPORT: FARLEIGH GOAL WINS IT FOR LLANDUDNO AT RHYL

Jacob Farleigh’s first half goal and his first for the club was enough to secure all three points for Llandudno at Belle Vue.

Llandudno started off brightly with Alfons Fosu-Mensah having the first chance of the game when he curled a shot just wide of the post.

Fons was looking dangerous and had another chance to give us the lead in the 40th minute, but again it went just wide.

The goal came just a few minutes later though when Robbie Parry found Farleigh and he curled the ball home to put Llandudno ahead.

Llandudno started off the second half as they ended the first with Farleigh almost doubling the advantage but the Rhyl keeper tipped it past the post.

A few minutes of madness followed with three red cards coming in the space of two minutes, with Scott McHarrie and Dean Seager going off for us and Stephens seeing red for Rhyl.

Llandudno were holding on with a man down and it went from bad to worse when Sam Downey was the fourth player to see red in the game late on.

Eight man Llandudno held on in the end to secure a vital three points, but it leaves the manager with some decisions to make ahead of the big derby against Colwyn Bay on the 28th.

Llandudno now sit in 10th place in the JD Cymru North, but with a few games in hand which could put us as high as fifth. LAST SEASON: 11th in the Northern Premier League, Division One West

COLWYN BAY: BRIEF HISTORY . A team representing Colwyn Bay played its first match in January 1881 and competed in the North Wales Coast Football League from 1901 until that competition folded in 1921 when the majority of clubs joined the Welsh National League.

The Bay enjoyed some success in this, winning the League Cup in 1928 and finishing as league runners-up in both 1928 and 1930 - which was to prove the last season for the competition.

In July of that year, a meeting was held at the Albion Hotel in Chester with a view to setting up the Cheshire Football Combina- tion in which clubs from Cheshire and North Wales would compete - the eventual title of the competition was the North Wales Football Combination. The Bay became founder members and celebrated by lifting the league title at the end of the 1930/31 season.

The club were Welsh League (North) champions in 1983 and 1984, and amongst their cup successes were wins in the Cookson Cup in 1980, 1981, 1982, and 1984, the Barrit Cup in 1980 and 1984 as well as the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1992 and 1996 and 1998.

In 1984, the club moved back into England with election to the Bass North West Counties League. It was also at this time that the Bay left their Eirias Park ground for their present Llanelian Road base.

The club also reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup for the first time in their history that season, losing 1-0 away to Northwich Victoria. The following season the Seagulls again reached the Final of the Raab Karcher Cup and gained revenge on Warrington Town winning 3-0, again at Bury. In 1990/91 the club finished runners up in the league to Knowsley United, but due to the demise of South Liverpool a vacancy was created in the Northern Premier League, and despite a strong challenge from North Shields to fill the vacancy, Colwyn Bay was duly elected.

DUE to financial pressures, the club's shareholders made the huge decision in May 2019 to end 35 years in the English pyramid and return to the Welsh system, as the board felt it was the only way that the club could survive.

The Seagulls were accepted to the new JD Cymru North for the 2019/20 season and with the club putting a five year plan in place, aimed at getting promotion to the Welsh Premier League and to challenge for European football, manager Craig Hogg signed a new five year contra ct. CONTACT US

LLANDUDNO FC MATCH PREVIEW OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

Llandudno are looking to make it six wins out of seven in all competitions and to climb the table.

Colwyn Bay sit in third place in the JD Cymru North but have drawn their last two games, thus falling behind the two league leaders in Prestatyn and Flint respectively.

Manager Matty Jones thought his side were excellent against Rhyl, in particular the first half.

“First half I thought we were excellent, my only point to the lads was that we needed to create more clear cut chances but I felt the way we controlled the game was excellent.

“It really did seem to click and I thought the goal we scored was superb football. I don’t know what happened second half, some red mist came down and that’s not us, it wasn’t that kind of game, but the eight lads left on the pitch did us all proud and it was a great win for us to show how far we’ve come.” Said Matty.

Llandudno’s recent form has been impressive, and Matty puts it down to the relationship growing between the lads on the pitch.

“I think it’s the fact that we are beginning to click, the lads are really getting to know each other and there is a really good feel about the group.

We have also found a system and a style that suits us. The start of the season was always going to be difficult, bringing a new group together, but we believe in these lads and we believe in what we are trying to do.”

Colwyn Bay won the reverse fixture 2-0 despite Llandudno performing well for the majority of the first half, up until their goal.

“They have hit the ground running in their first season back.

“This is going to be a tough test, made tougher with the lads we’ve got missing, but we know that on our day we are a match for anyone in this league.”

Three suspensions against Rhyl mean Scott McHarrie, Dean Seager and Sam Downey are unavailable for this match, as well as the Conwy Borough and Corwen.

“We welcome back Bry Roberts into the squad and will also get a first look at summer signing Jamie McDaid, other than

Our Team...Our Town

A warm festive welcome to everyone, as we look forward to our neighbours from the Bay, making the short trip for this epic fixture. We go into this game on a run of five wins out of the last six, and looking to extend that to six in seven...how cool would that be?

There were some magnificent performances in the away game at Rhyl, and it was fantastic to come away with three points, despite finishing the game with just 8 players on the pitch, and 3 on Santa's naughty list! Oops!

As this is our final fixture of the year, I'd like to thank Matty, Stu, Roger, Andy, Dave and Sian, for all their hard work during 2019...also to all our players, including the 19s who I'm pleased to see breaking into the first team, (Tom, Alex, Adam and Morgan) A massive thank you, and well done...we feel like a team that's going places! And a big thank you to all our volunteers, every one of you is appreciated, we really wouldn't be able to put games on without you.

Thanks also to our supporters, and to everyone else involved with this great club. Here's to a superb 2020... Best wishes, and bring it on... Richard

Thanks for your continued support...

JACOB FARLEIGH

Position: WINGER | Age: 21 | Previous Clubs: Shrewsbury, TNS, Ban- gor | At the club since: July 2019

Jacob Farleigh joined from Bangor in the Summer, as Matty brought him and Robbie Parry from our local rivals. Farls has suffered with injury for the majority of this season, but always looked like a bright spark in the games he did play.

His hard work paid off last weekend as he got the winner against Rhyl with a brilliant curled finish. “It was obviously a great feeling to get my first goal, but more importantly we got the three points and we close the gap, hopefully we can continue to do that.”

Jacob started off his career in the Shrewsbury Town academy, before moving to the Welsh system, signing a professional contract with The New Saints. He had his first taste of Welsh second tier football with Bangor last season, where he made an impression and brought the manager to sign him for Llan- dudno.

“It’s been massively frustrating so far, because I’ve felt I can really help the team but that’s football… and you have to get on with that. I’ve worked hard to get back fit and now I hope I can be an asset to the team for the rest of the season.” Said Jacob

Llandudno have had a few games postponed as of late, meaning the table isn’t painting the real pic- ture of where the club should be at the moment, but Farleigh says they just have to take it game by game.

“With so many games in hand I think it’s more about just winning game by game and seeking where we end up, but obviously yes, we want to be up there come the end of the season.”

The derby is fast approaching and the players are really looking forward to the challenge according to Jacob.

“We are looking forward to is massively, obviously we are without a few players due to suspension, so it will be a very tough game, but we are more than ready, and raring to go.” LLANDUDNO FC CLUB NEWS OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME LLANDUDNO FC COMPLETE MOVEMBER

Manager Matthew Jones had this to say about "This year the Llandudno FC first team players and staff will be taking part in Movember to raise money for men’s health. On Thursday the 31st of October, we will be getting photos of our ‘starter’ tash and then posting progress as the month passes."

All together, the squad raised £280, which beat their overall target of £250. The football club would like to thank everyone for their support during this initiative.

ACADEMY: FESTIVE CHEER FOR DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

Llandudno welcomed neighbours Caernarfon Town to Maesdu for the final game of the Cymru Prem- ier Development League North festive fixture period.

Llandudno started the better of the two teams and looked to trouble Caernarfon's backline early on. Some good chances for both sides to break the deadlock soon followed but it was Alex Roberts on 32' who capitalised on a sublime through ball from centre-half Cynan Edwards, running onto the pass and lobbing the onrushing keeper with a deft finish.

It would stay 1-0 to half time and the next goal being vital, Llandudno would be the ones to grab it through Dion Lloyd, a menace for the Caernarfon defence all game, finished off a fine team move to make it 2-0.

Adam Montgomery would score to make it 3 to the good on 54' for his 3rd goal of the season with a fine finish and Scott Brown would make it 4-0 on 78' sliding in to finish off another passing move, an important goal for the youngster.

Alex Roberts would grab his second of the game, taking him to 5 for the season on 85' before a mo- mentary lapse in concentration for Town allowed Caernarfon to grab a consolation on 86' minutes through substitute Damien Smith.

We spoke with Development Squad Manager James Parry this morning, "I'm made up for the lads to be fair, at times this year they have worked so hard and not gotten the rewards but yesterday they did - some of the play at times was fantastic and a joy to watch.

"When we turn up and play to our strengths we can blow teams away like we did yesterday. I think it was important for everyone's confidence moving foward to finish 2019 with a big 3 points - with Els (Ellis Jones) & Jords (Jordan Pownall) signing in January it only adds to our quality which is exciting." finished Parry.
