Up-North’s Road Show Not to be outdone by their southern brothers, Pioneer’s four Up North Chapters organized their own Road Show and gathered in Gaylord June 24. Barbershoppers from Sault Ste Marie, Alpena, Traverse City and Gaylord met for two and a half hours of Barbershop fun, complete with a tag contest, some Dave Stevens wisdom, and LOTS of singing. Actually, the idea came from Jim Stewart of the Alpena Chapter who, during a Chapter Counselor visit to the Chapter last fall, suggested to Don Bazely and Al Bonney that the Up-North chapters plan a joint Chapter meeting – just like the old days. So, long before Ev Nau ever thought of the idea for a Road Show, the idea was spawned Up-North, and began to cook. Finding an acceptable date was the challenge for the four busy chapters. Between performances, coaching, contest and rehearsals, scheduling a mutually International quartet convenient date had to wait till June.
