Imagination Records paid for the recording of Boize's debut full-length album at their own recording studio Cherry Production Studios but the album was shelved due to limit funds from the record label. After severing their contract with Imagination Records, Boize signed with Bill Hill Productions and released a promotional tape in 1991 (featuring a selection of songs from the shelved album completely re-mixed and partly re-recorded) to shop around to major record labels. Boize then self-released an EP in 1992 through the band's own record label, U-Iliot Records. In mid-1992, Boize was on the verge of signing with major record label Aquarius Records (3) but their first vocalist quit the band. A second vocalist was recruited and the band demoed some new material in studio but he too quit the band before the contracts could be signed with Aquarius Records. Finally, with their fourth vocalist Boize decided to change name to Emissary in June of 1993.

This supercharged Hard Rock band took the U.S. and European emerging Metal underground by storm with their privately pressed 10''EP "Lethal" released in early 1982. At this point their sound was reminiscent of great 70s acts such as Montrose and Teaze but also in the vein of other contemporary high energy rock acts like Riot, Schoolboys (pre-Icon) or the more obscure Loosely Tight. In 83 Mausoleum Records releases the EP with two bonus tracks in Europe giving the band a wider coverage in european territory. On the second coming of the band in 87, they recorded the pre-production tapes for their follow up album "Volatile Activity" that never happened. This time their sound was more on par with Quiet Riot or Twisted Sister. However, in the big scheme of Rock and Roll, it was too late for stardom as this "Stadium Metal" type sound has been around since 1983 and the band members look didn't even match with the hairspray and doll-face image that was associated to the "Hair Metal" sound, so important for record sales at the time. The band eventually vanished into obscurity until a comeback in the 21st century when they realised there was still a fan base for their music much due to the Internet, specially Youtube. The Volatile Activity songs appear for the very first time on CD, as they were released on vinyl back in 2013. The Lethal +II Studio Session 83 unreleased tracks appeared before in the CD "Lethal Dose" released also in 2013 but is now out of print. One might think Lienhardt's unique vocal delivery wouldn't work well with this style, but it does well enough. This isn't Venom-styled NWOBHM, though - it's more like Angel Witch or later Cloven Hoof, an influence that can be heard in the equally obscure band Heathen's Rage. The title track is rather curious, though, as while it definitely takes influence from NWOBHM, the main riff is almost identical to that of Manilla Road's "Flaming Metal Systems", which was only released the previous year. Engel at temple of Disharmony NWOBHM Classic ! With a name taken from a Victorian novel, Bleak House were one of the more exhilarating bands of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. The legacy of the Home Counties’ five-piece is just two 7” EPs, but both ‘Rainbow Warrior’ and ‘Lions In Winter’ would go on to become legendary in the eyes of fans and collectors alike. Released in June 1980, the ‘Rainbow Warrior’ EP featured the title track on the A-side backed by ‘Isandhlwana’ – a song named after the site of the first major battle of the Zulu War – and ‘Inquisition’. “At the time ‘Rainbow Warrior’ was the track we were in love with,” says guitarist Graham Killin. “That was the track that we thought would be the best… When we played live that was the track that people really seemed to like and it seemed to create a buzz, so it was the natural A-side.” ‘Lions In Winter’ was recorded around eighteen months later, and released in 1982. This time the band served up four tracks in fourteen minutes – ‘Chase The Wind’, ‘No Reply’, ‘Down To Zero’ and ‘Flight Of The Salamander’ – on a record that Killin would later describe as a “natural progression” for the band. Unfortunately, as with so many of their peers, Bleak House fell apart before they could record anything else, and it’s these two records that kept their name alive over the years. This mini-album presents both EPs in full in their original running order.

They were from the Quebecois progressive scene and were perhaps the most-known Canadian symphonic group with HARMONIUM but their music is much purely rooted in the symphonic genre than their countrymen, whose music is more folk-oriented. The group consisted of Jacques Tom Rivest (vocals, bass, acoustic guitar, keyboards), Richard Lemoyne (electric & acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards), Claude Lemay (keyboards, flute, bass, vibraphone, vocals) and Sylvain Coutu (drums, vibraphone). The only album was released in 1976. It is a very good keyboard dominated symphonic album. They remind mostly of the English groups like YES, GENTLE GIANT and ELP but not really distinctly any of these groups. In addition, they also have some of that typical French sound and similarity to the seventies French symphonic groups such as CARPE DIEM. Letztlich gibt es aber gute Gründe, Iron Maiden als kleinsten gemeinsamen Nenner aller „echten“ Heavy-Metal-Fans zu bezeichnen, und deshalb beschäftigt uns die Frage nach dem Karriere- Ende mehr als bei jeder anderen Band. Titelstory und 20 Seiten Special! Die Griechen Sacral Rage sind der heißeste Scheiß im progressiven Heavy Metal und ballern uns mit ihrem zweiten Album „Beyond Celestial Echoes“ eins der großen Jahres-Highlights in diesem Genre um die Ohren. Fans alter Watchtower-Glanztaten, aber auch US-Speed-Metaller mit Agent-Steel-Schlagseite sollten diese Band unbedingt auf dem Schirm haben. „The Wake“, das neue Album der kanadischen Prog-Thrash-Punks Voivod, begeistert nicht nur unsere Mitarbeiter Annick und Wolf. Wir begaben uns mit der Band in ihrer Heimatstadt Jonquière an den Ort ihres allerersten Live-Auftritts vor 35 Jahren und sprachen über Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft. Die volle Packung Voivod also. Und noch eine volle Packung: Das Party.San Open Air, unser Lieblings-Festival im harten Bereich, hat uns wieder drei Tage lang begeistert, gefordert, aus der Reserve gelockt und rund um die Uhr in Atem gehalten. So wie´s sein muss eben. Und wir haben am Deaf-Forever-Stand, wo auch die Bands ihre Autogrammstunden abhalten, wieder viele von euch getroffen und sowohl nette als auch hitzige Diskussionen geführt. Ach ja: Und es gab bemerkenswerte Live-Shows! Andy Schulz findet das neue Album der polnischen Staatsrebellen Behemoth genauso stark wie den letzten Überflieger „The Satanist“, und dem schließen wir uns an. Wortführer Nergal ist längst zu einer echten Persönlichkeit herangereift, deren Äußerungen nicht nur in kirchlichen Kreisen gehört und bewertet werden. Auch im Metal gehört er längst zu den eloquentesten Gesprächspartnern. Damit uns Michael Kohsiek nicht ständig auf die Nerven geht, schicken wir ihn hin und wieder gerne zu geheimen Kauz-Metal-Treffen in den Wald. Diesmal traf er im dichtesten Dickicht auf die Herren Slough Feg, die dort seit vielen Jahren Hartholz sammeln - von der Öffentlichkeit weitestgehend unbemerkt. Dass sich Michael auf einmal neben sie hockte, bemerkten die Kultsammler gar nicht. DEAF FOREVER #27 (NEW*GER MAG*K.K.DOWNING*HELLOWEEN*POSTER: THE DEVILS BLOOD / PENTAGRAM) – 7 € “Heavy Metal is the law that keeps us all united free A law that shatters earth and hell Heavy Metal can't be beaten by any dynasty We're all wizards fightin' with our spell” Diese Zeilen sang Mitte der Achtziger ein 22-jähriger Hamburger namens Kai Hansen, damals Gitarrist und Frontmann von Helloween, die mit ihrem Debütalbum “Walls Of Jericho” DIE deutsche Speed-Metal-Scheibe veröffentlichten und weltweit Legionen von jungen, wilden, ungestümen Bands beeinflussten. Auf 14 Seiten widmen wir uns der Entstehungsgeschichte des Albums, befragen Hinz und Kunz und beleuchten das Teil aus jeder möglichen Perspektive. Der Helloween-eigene Humor sorgt für kurzweiliges Lesevergnügen. Nicht minder spannend ist unser Interview mit K.K. Downing: Seit seinem Ausstieg bei Judas Priest ist es ziemlich still um den legendären Gitarristen geworden. Nun erscheint seine Autobiografie, in der K.K. schonungslos offen mit sich, seiner Vergangenheit und seinem Umfeld abrechnet. Auch im Gespräch mit Götz Kühnemund, dem ersten Interview seit langer Zeit, nimmt K.K. kein Blatt vor den Mund. Die Death-Metal-Band der Stunde heißt Sulphur Aeon und hat mit „The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos“ soeben ihr drittes, überragendes Album abgeliefert und damit unsere Soundchecker völlig begeistert. Ein interessantes inhaltliches Konzept und eine sehr eigenwillige Herangehensweise an ihr Songwriting heben die Band noch weiter von der Masse ab. Wie jedes Jahr um diese Zeit haben wir uns in unseren Plattenzimmern verbarrikadiert, sind tagelang in uns gegangen und haben das Jahr 2018 in seine Einzelteile zerlegt. Kurz: Es ist Jahrespoll-Zeit! In musikalischer Hinsicht war es ein tolles Jahr, so viel steht fest. Und ja, auch Fenriz hat trotz heftiger Meckerei eine Top 20 zusammengestellt. Gekoppelt an den Leserpoll-Bogen findet ihr außerdem - wie immer - unsere große Verlosung. Neudi wollte schon lange ein Hawkwind-Porträt schreiben, und jetzt hat er Captain Dave Brock, den alten Lemmy-Kumpel, endlich an die Strippe bekommen. Der 77-Jährige (!) ist trotz seiner Drogeneskapaden noch erstaunlich frisch im Oberstübchen und konnte sich überraschenderweise an vieles erinnern, das Neudi längst vergessen hatte. Auch die Holländer Picture, lange Zeit die einzige Hardrock- und Metal-Band ihres Landes von internationalem Ruf, waren uns eine größere Story wert. Lars Schuckar dröselte 40 Jahre Rockhistory auf, kommentierte sämtliche Picture-Alben und fragte weitere Löcher in den Käse.
