Deborah Bonham Press Release 2013 Deborah Bonham joins the Spectra Music Group Singer/Songwriter Deborah Bonham joins Spectra Records: A division of the Spectra Music Group. The crafty, stylish and incomparable artist and sister of John Bonham of Led Zeppelin fame is set out on a course all of her own. Deborah is no stranger to the industry and her new album soon to be released is one of many records by the dazzling blonde performer. The spirit in the songs and music of Deborah Bonham draws on the hurt, pain, joy and anger that come with life for all of us. Negatives are decanted as positivity, from mistakes comes learning. From that spirit comes the determination to always push forward and celebrate life, sharing experiences with her audience. As she sings in the opening salvo from the album: “Pain is going away, it's gonna stop today. I'm gonna fly”. So there could be only one title for the new album: “SPIRIT” but Deborah also has soul. It's the soul that comes from her deep love and understanding of so many musical greats - Otis Redding, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Elkie Brooks, Lowell George and many more - all of whom are artists who surrounded themselves with great musicians who had that same 'feel'. And so it is with Deborah's band. It's also their instinctive affinity with the words being sung and how they absorb her emotions; sometimes soft, sometimes fierce. The last two years has seen Deborah touring alongside and dueting with Paul Rodgers, Robert Plant and as a special guest with Nazareth (Dan McCafferty performed his first-ever duet on tour in the UK with Deborah, singing the Lorraine Ellison soul classic ‘Stay With Me Baby’). She also performed alongside Ozzy Osbourne in the Czech Republic, where she returned for more shows and also appeared at the massive Harley Davidson festivals in France and Austria (100,000 people). During her career she has also toured and performed with Van Halen, Alannah Myles,Tim Rose, Uli Jon Roth, Paul Weller, Humble Pie, Donovan, Lonnie Donegan, Jools Holland, Ann Peebles, Foreigner and FM. She’s played festivals from Glastonbury to Donnington, Harley Davidson to Ripfest, and twice at Fairport Convention's Cropredy Festival. Having performed and recorded with Deborah, I’m touched by her sweet nature and her warm and wicked singing and writing talent” PAUL RODGERS “For and from the heart, soul and feet. No one does what this band do. We need them.” BBC The new album by Deborah Bonham entitled “Spirit” will be released in early 2014. A supporting tour is already in the works for the UK as well as the USA. Spectra Music Group P.O. The Racialization of Jimi Hendrix Abstract The period of history immediately following World War Two was a time of intense social change. The nde of colonialism, the internal struggles of newly emerging independent nations in Africa, social and political changes across Europe, armed conflict in Southeast Asia, and the civil rights movement in America were just a few. Although many of the above conflicts have been in the making for quite some time, they seemed to unite to form a socio-political cultural revolution known as the 60s, the effects of which continues to this day. The 1960s asw a particularly intense time for race relations in the United States. Long before it officially became a republic, in matters of race, white America collectively had trouble reconciling what it practiced versus what it preached. Nowhere is this racial contradiction more apparent than in the case of Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix is emblematic of the racial ideal and the racial contradictions of the 1960s.

In addition, the paper provides complete discographies, including critical commentary, of records produced by bands associated with the Bosstown Sound. The bands of the Bosstown Sound include: The Apple Pie Motherhood Band, The Bagatelle, The Beacon Street Union, Bo Grumpus, Eagle, Earth Opera, Eden's Children, Sure Looks Real, The Ill Wind, Jolliver Arkansaw, Orpheus, Phluph, Puff, and Ultimate Spinach. • Simon Mcbride and Hugh Cornwell
Waterloo Street, St. Helens WA10 1PX www.citadel.org.uk Box Office: 01744 735436 Press Release: Tuesday 2nd July 2013 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE This week at The Citadel Arts Centre, St Helens Simon McBride and Hugh Cornwell The Citadel Arts Centre will be welcoming Simon McBride on Thursday 4 July and Hugh Cornwell of the Stranglers fame on Saturday 6 July 2013. Predicted to be the next Irish blues guitar hero in the footsteps of Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore, former Young Guitarist of the Year Simon McBride has undeniable guitar artistry combined with a fine voice and a real knack for creating memorable hooks and great melodies. His latest CD Crossing The Line is a fiery amalgam of guitar skills, songcraft and character-soaked vocals, spinning tales of girls, gambling and corporate avarice. Recorded in Northern Ireland and The USA, mixing of the album was placed in the experienced hands of New York-based Peter Denenberg, the veteran producer and engineer whose CV takes in everyone from Deep Purple to the Spin Doctors and Robert Cray. Rewind to the early-’90s, and you didn’t have to squint to spot future greatness in the unassuming kid from Belfast, who picked up his first guitar at ten and eschewed formal lessons to bend his fingers around the music of Free, Jeff Beck and Hendrix. Aged 15, Simon won Guitarist’s hotly-contested Young Guitarist of the Year competition in a Wembley Conference Centre showdown, and at 16, he turned pro, leaving education behind to wow the world as a hired gun in projects than ranged from metal with Sweet Savage, to R&B and soul with ex-Commitments vocalist Andrew Strong.

My colleague and fellow scribe Tony Wilson had secured the precious black vinyl LP and dropped it onto the turntable, awaiting my reaction. We were immediately transfixed by the brash, bold sounds that fought their way out of the lo- fi speakers – Robert Plant’s screaming vocals, the eerie Hammond organ sounds of John Paul Jones, and Jimmy Page’s supreme guitar mastery. But amid the kaleidoscope of impressions, the drums were the primary element that set pulses racing. We marveled at the sheer audacity, the sense of authority, the spatial awareness present on every track. Within moments, John Bonham’s cataclysmic bass drum triplets and roaring snare rolls had signaled a new era of rock drumming. The first time I saw Bonham up close was in December 1968, at The Marquee Club on Soho’s Wardour Street. While The Marquee has long held a mythical status in the rich history of the London rock scene – hosting early appearances by such legendary bands as The Who and The Rolling Stones – it was actually a dark and rather cramped facility with a tiny stage that fronted an even stuffier dressing room.
