Arriva a Roma il 15 maggio, sul palco dell'Orion Live Il nome del cantautore finlandese ha davvero moltissimi significati e connotazioni che fanno capo ad un'unica, sola identità: rappresenta il nome del fondatore e frontman degli Hanoi Rocks, storica glam rock band finlandese; è il nome di un sassofonista famoso per le sue ANDREA LECCARDI performance insieme a Aerosmith e Guns N' Roses; e attualmente, costituisce prima di tutto il nome del suo personalissimo gruppo rock. [email protected] SPETTACOLINEWS.IT Il nuovo album della band, "Horns and Halos" uscito lo scorso 23 agosto e anticipato dal singolo e video di "Ballad Of The Lower East Side", rappresenta pienamente lo spirito cosmopolita di questo artista. Il lavoro è stato registrato in giro per il mondo e da musicisti internazionali: Los Angeles, Stoccolma, New York e diverse location in Finlandia hanno lasciato il proprio segno all'interno delle tracce del disco. Stoccolma è stata particolarmente importante: le registrazioni hanno avuto luogo nello stesso studio dove, oltre 30 anni fa, sono state registrate le tracce dell'album di debutto degli Hanoi Rocks. Petri Majuri, uomo di fiducia di Michael Monroe da oltre un decennio, che ha mixato l'album su un'isola fortezza alle porte di Helsinki, ha regalato all'album l'impronta finlandese. Attualmente il cuore pulsante della band è composto dal bassista Sami Yaffa (Hanoi Rocks) e dal batterista Karl Rockfist (Glenn Danzig e Joan Pag. 1 / 2 Osborne). Le chitarre sono affidate alla leggenda svedese Dregen (Backyard Babies e The Hellacopters) e a Steve Conte (New York Dolls) nel 2004. Questi cinque artisti prendono significato insieme alla carismatica figura di Michael Monroe che fa da "collante" per il suo personalissimo progetto hard rock. Polistrumentista, performer intrepido ed esperto, Michael è stato sull'onda del successo per decenni e mostra ancora oggi la grazia ed autorità degli inizi, senza mostrare alcun segno di rallentamento. Non vi è alcun mezzo passo nel mondo di Monroe: tutto ciò che intraprende lo porta a termine con la caparbietà che solo la sua esperienza e la gavetta nel mondo dell'hard rock internazionale gli hanno garantito. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

Adam formed the cover band TYRANT with singer GEOFF TATE who later formed QUEENSRŸCHE . First the band was called Spectrum and they 1979 played Judas Priest, UFO or Rush songs. Normally, they had gigs at High Schools. After a ‘battle of bands’ the band broke up. One of the first gigs Adam met EDWARD VAN HALEN in a hotel in Tacoma Washington. He asked Eddie to sign his guitar and wound up getting a three hour guitar lesson. Those three hours changed his life forever. Later he joined the band TKO from Seattle. Adam co-wrote 1980 most of the new material of the band and recorded the album IN YOUR FACE . But TKO couldn’t get a record deal. The album was too heavy for the current music market, Disco was still the main thing. Without a deal, Adam eventually left and was re- placed. TKO ended up with a record deal releasing In Your Face on Combat Records in 1984. Reissue 2008 with Adam on back cover Adam was asked to audition for KISS . Ace Frehley, the original guitar player, left the band before.

SCHPAYBO 'LONG WAY BACK' (INDEPENDENT) Schpaybo are a hard rock outﬁt from the US fronted by talented multi-musician Steve Spirko. The material of Schpaybo rocks in a kind of southern boogie way a’la AC/DC and Aerosmith mixed with the melodic hard rock of Nightranger This makes for an interesting release as the songs here are often catchy and singable, like track three, ’Won’t You Be My Girl’ which is so goddamn infectious it’s silly. Vocally Steve sounds across between Stephen Tyler and Nightanger’s Jack Blade’s, thus ’Won’t You Be My Girl’ comes across in the similar vein and is my favourite track of the whole album, hard to ignore and very catchy, ‘Won’t You Be My Girl’ is well classy. Other good songs are track two ‘For Barbara’s Love’, this song like ‘Won’t You Be My Girl’ is very catchy and similar in style to Motley Crue, Nightranger and Michael Monroe, and has a sleazy edge to it. Also check out the ballad ‘Fall In Love Eyes’ which reminds me of Molly Hatchet. ‘Stress’ is a weaker song with a silly chorus that doesn’t hold up against the likes of ‘Won’t You Be My Girl’, and ‘Out Of Time’ is another song with that classic rock vibe a’la Aerosmith and Ted Nugent. At the end of the album there is a hidden instrumental piece that is pretty good, which is in the style of Ted Nugent and Slash. Overall Schypaybo deﬁnitely have potential and most of the songs are fun and catchy but fail to top the class of ‘Won’t You By My Girl’ a song that I will be playing to death for the rest of the year.

Six Feet Down An interesting rarity came my way in the likes of a Punk Rock release. Now normally I don’t mind much interest in the genre as I once was in my younger days, but since these recordings are hard to find from this particular band, I thought I give it a shot. The Washington DC area punk rock band The Factory had their day in the late 80′s/early 90′s, but much like those sorta of bands then, crashed and burn faster then you could remember. The enigmatic front man Vance Bockis (formerly of The Obsessed, 9353 and doom metal gods Pentagram) painted a dark picture in these tracks about your typical sex, drugs and rock and roll… well truth be told at least one of those vices got to singer as he suffered a long battle with heroin addiction.
