Flabellina rubrolineata was believed to have a wide distribution range, being reported from the Mediterranean Sea (non-native), the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and adjacent seas, and the Indo-West Pacific and from Australia to Hawaii. In the present paper, we provide a redescription of Flabellina rubrolineata, based on specimens collected near the type locality of this species in the Red Sea. The morphology of this species was studied using anatomical dissections and scanning electron microscopy. To place this species in the phylogenetic framework and test the identity of other specimens of F. rubrolineata from the Indo-West Pacific we sequenced COI, H3, 16S and 28S gene fragments and obtained phylogenetic trees based on Bayesian and Maximum likelihood inferences. Our morphological and molecular results show a clear separation of F. rubrolineata from the Red Sea from its relatives in the Indo-West Pacific. We suggest that F. rubrolineata is restricted to only the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea and to West Indian Ocean, while specimens from other regions belong to a complex of pseudocryptic species. -

Initially it was found only in Corio Bay, but during the past fiveyears it has spread so that it now occurs throughout the western half of Port Phillip Bay. • Densities of Sabella in many parts of the bay remain low but densities are usually higher (up to 13/m2 ) in deeper water and they extend into shallower depths in calmer regions. • Sabella larvae probably require a 'hard' surface (shell fragment, rock, seaweed, mollusc or sea squirt) for initial attachment, but subsequently they may use their own tube as an anchor in soft sediment . • Changes to fish communities following the establishment of Sabella were analysed using multidimensional scaling and BACI (Before, After, Control, Impact) design analyses of variance. -

This study was carried out, through a total of 271 scuba dives, from 2017 to the beginning of 2020 in four sites located along the Ionian coasts of Sicily: Catania, Aci Trezza, Santa Maria La Scala and Santa Tecla. Through a photographic data collection, 95 taxa, representing 17.27% of all Mediterranean marine Heterobranchia, were reported. The order with the highest number of found species was that of Nudibranchia. Among the study areas, Catania, Santa Maria La Scala and Santa Tecla had not a remarkable difference in the number of species, while Aci Trezza had the lowest number of species. Moreover, among the 95 taxa, four species considered rare and six non-indigenous species have been recorded. Since the presence of a high diversity of sea slugs in a relatively small area, the central-eastern coast of Sicily could be considered a zone of high biodiversity for the marine Heterobranchia fauna. Also, Noumea purpurea Baba, 1949 was re-described with illustrations because previous records for this species were given without a description. Two congeneric species in the genus Noumea could be distinguished by ground color, dorsal markings, color of the mantle edge and gills, and mantle and dorsal marking. In addition, mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) sequences of five species were provided for further molecular identification study. Consequently, a total of 43 species have been reported for the Korean nudi- branch fauna. Twenty-one species belonging to the family Chromodorididae and one species of Hexabranchus (Hexa- branchidae) are present in the 1990 Rumphius Biohistorical Expedition (RBE) collection. The 1996 Fauna Malesiana Marine Maluku Expedition (Mal) collected 43 lots of nudibranchs, mostly chromodorids: 17 species were identified, six of which were not represented in the RBE collection. A total of 35 chro- modorid species, belonging to nine genera, are described from Ambon and nearby localities. Four species are new to science, and seventeen species are recorded from Indonesian waters for the first time. Brief descriptions are given for the species which are well known, highlighting significant features, dif- ferentiating characters from similar species, and allowing recognition. A number of species are less well known and described and figured in more detail. RUDMAN Department of Zoology, University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand INTRODUCTION An earlier study of Philine angasi and Philine auriformis, from New Zealand (Rudman, 1972), showed some interesting variations in the structure of the foregut. Specimens of P. falklandica and P. gibba, from Antarctica, were subsequently studied and with P. quadrata and P. powelli these species exhibit an interesting range of development within the genus. EXTERNAL FEATURES AND MANTLE CAVITY The external features of the animal, and structure of the mantle cavity are similar in all species studied. Published information shows these features are constant throughout the genus (Franz and Clark, 1969; Horikoshi, 1967; Mattox, 1958; Sars, 1878; Vayssiere, 1885). The following description is based on Philine auriformis Suter, 1909; for illustrations of P. auriformis, P. angasi and P. powelli, see Rudman (1970). The animal is elongate and the head shield is approximately two-thirds the length of the body. The posterior edge of the head shield sometimes has a median indentation and a thin median line, free of cilia, runs the length of the shield. The posterior or mantle shield, approximately one-third of the body-length, arises from under the head shield and extends some distance beyond the foot. There is usually a median notch on the posterior edge of this shield. The shell is internal and, as in the Aglajidae, there is a narrow ciliated duct running from the shell cavity to open in the left posterior quarter of the mantle shield. -

Corresponding author: [email protected] The aplysiid sea hare, Syphonota geographica has a predominantly circumtropical distribution. Over the last 15 years, it has spread throughout the eastern Mediterranean Sea where it is regarded as an alien, Lessepsian migrant. Observations from southern Europe and the Middle East illustrate the capacity of S. geographica to invade and establish populations in novel locations. Whilst historic records from the Australian east coast indicate a latitudinal distribution from northern Queensland south to Sydney, observations reported in this paper confirm that its range extends to the southern east coast, an area regarded as an important climate change hot-spot. These records not only represent an important southward shift in range, but are also the most southerly global observations for this tropical taxon. Observations from the Mediterranean and those reported here, were generated by citizen scientists, highlighting the substantial benefit of public engagement in ongoing programs that document, and monitor changes in, marine biodiversity.
