    BARRA CULTURE Programme Director BARROW CREATIVE PEOPLE & PLACES Job Description Barra Culture is looking to appoint an exceptional individual, a well-connected creative leader to be an integral part of cultural change in Barrow-in-Furness. Barra Culture is one of 12 Creative People and Places (CPP) programmes recently awarded funding by Arts Council England with the aim of increasing participation in the arts, particularly amongst those least involved. ART GENE - INFLATED BARROW TERRACE ON TOUR -MADDI NICHOLSON Those in Barrow who already engage in the arts are absolutely passionate about it, but currently the town lacks the range of opportunities for participation that people in cities and more auent towns take for granted. Residents in Barrow face signicant barriers to taking part and the level of participation in the cultural activity that does take place is amongst the lowest in the country. This exciting, once-in-a-generation programme aims to transform the cultural landscape and infrastructure in our geograph- ically remote but creative and proud town. The four-year intervention will spark aspiration and pride across the local popu- lace, taking our residents on a journey to explore and celebrate their sense of selves in collaboration with established world class, exciting and innovative new artistic talent As Programme Director you will lead in the management of projects across the wider artistic programme, building on the frame- work outlined in the Barra Culture CPP appli- cation document. Working in collaboration with communities in Barrow's ve most deprived wards (Hind- pool, Ormsgill, Central, Barrow Island and Walney), Barra Culture's expected outcomes include a programme of ambitious artists' residencies, commissions, workshops and events that will culminate in a large scale cel- ebratory festival in Barrow's town centre.

WOC 1 has the very wide subject area of Exploration, Production and Processing of Gas. During 2003-2006 WOC1 continued to develop some of the themes investigated in past triennia, but also took a new approach to the organization of the work of the committee. The halves of this report have been put together by our two study groups. Rebecca Hyde, Centrica, UK acted as the Committee Technical Secretary until autumn 2005 when she was replaced by Adam Hinds, Centrica plc, UK. Many of our residents face real diffi culties around health, accessing employment and housing; Chair of Barrow-in- this affects well-being and life choices. Working with a wide range of partners, supported by a continuous process of engagement; we have identifi ed a programme of Ann Thomson investment that can make a real difference to enhance quality of life, help people develop skills and improve their life chances, support Leader of Barrow businesses to start and grow, to improve our housing offer and to Barrow Borough Council promote inclusive and active forms of travel.

    Deprivation Analysis Cumbria Aim To identify the most deprived areas within Cumbria in order to inform the targeting of support for the most vulnerable communities within the county. Conclusions & Recommendations Based on the evidence presented within this report, the most deprived areas of Cumbria are: Moss Bay, Moorclose and Ewanrigg (Maryport) within Allerdale; Central, Hindpool, Barrow Island, Ormsgill and Risedale within Barrow-in-Furness; Upperby, Botcherby and Belle Vue within Carlisle; Sandwith, Mirehouse, Harbour and Cleator Moor South within Copeland. The Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) 2010: The IMD were produced by the DCLG in 2010 to consider the unmet needs of small areas, known as Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs), caused by a lack of resources of across seven domains: Income; Employment; Health and Disability; Education Skills and Training; Barriers to Housing and Services; Living Environment; and Crime. Cumbria has 29 communities that rank within the 10% most deprived of areas in England; these communities are all located within Allerdale, Barrow-in-Furness, Copeland and Carlisle. None of the Cumbrian communities that rank within the 10% most deprived nationally are found within Eden or South Lakeland. Figure 1 lists the 29 communities (LSOAs) that rank within the 10% most deprived of areas in England. LSOAs colour coded by district and the ward that each LSOA is located in is also provided.     District Deprivation Summary Barrow-in-Furness 2015 The Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) The IMD are produced by the Department for Communities & Local Government (DCLG) to consider the unmet needs of small areas, known as Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs), caused by a lack of resources of across seven domains: Income; Employment; Education Skills and Training; Health and Disability; Crime; Barriers to Housing and Services; and Living Environment. In addition to the above, there are two supplementary indices: The Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index (IDACI); and The Income Deprivation Affecting Older People Index (IDAOPI). Deprivation scores for each LSOA across all of the above domains are also combined to create an overall Index of Multiple Deprivation score and rank for each LSOA. When deprivation scores are combined for all LSOAs in Barrow-in-Furness, the district is classified as the most deprived district in Cumbria for overall deprivation, and falls within the 10% most deprived nationally. It falls within the 10% most deprived nationally in terms of Employment deprivation; Health deprivation & Disability; and Living Environment. Barrow-in-Furness falls within the 20% most deprived nationally in terms of Income deprivation.
