Foto: Ester Segarra 2020-01-31 11:41 CET Katatonia - City Burials - Nytt Album Katatonia - De svenska mästarna av melankoli återvänder nu med sitt nya opus "City Burials", bandets elfte studioalbum och det första sedan uppehållet efter 2016 års "The Fall Of Hearts". Bildat 1991 av Jonas Renske och Anders Nyström har Katatonia varit stilbildande inom den tidiga svenska black/death/doom-rörelsen ända fram till den progressiva inriktningen de har idag. Utöver den kreativa duon, är Katatonia ett fulltaligt band med en bländande musikalisk kemi mellan de övriga medlemmarna, Niklas Sandin (bas), Daniel Moilanen (trummor) och den nya rekryteringen i gitarristen Roger Öjersson. Katatonia har aldrig låtit mer vitalt än nu. Inspirerade av det nya blodet i bandet, är "City Burials" - inte nödvändigtvis en återgång till bandets metallrötter - utan ett sätt att återta delar av sin gamla stil och väva in dem i ett kaleidoskop av nya influenser som tar bandet ytterligare framåt. Albumet producerades av Nyström/Renske och spelades in i Soundtrade Studios, Tri-Lamb Studios och The City Of Glass mellan oktober och november 2019 med ytterligare assistans av Karl Daniel Lidén. Albumet gästas också av Anni Bernhard, rösten bakom Stockholmsbandet Full Of Keys. Omslagskonsten är gjord av den välrenommerade konstnären Lasse Hoile och representerar ett återkommande tema från bandets album "Dead End Kings". Having worked on the ‘metal-less’ 2013 re-imagining of Dead End Kings entitled Dethroned„ & Uncrowned“ (2013) and extensive subsequent acoustic tours culminating in the Live DVD release of „Sanctitude“ last year, how much has this rather long absence from fully plugged heaviness influenced the songwriting for The Fall of Hearts? I think, by doing the many „Dethroned & Uncrowned“ and „Sanctitude“ acoustic gigs and album we opened up a new door for our audience to choose, to get familiar with, to accept a new sound of Katatonia. We never tried to claim or anything that this was the indication of our new style. It was just a little side experiment to show that we have more sides than just one in Katatonia. We also could show a softer more lushy acoustic side that would still sound like Katatonia.

I 2016 kom Katatonias ellevte studioalbum ut under tittelen «The Fall of Hearts». Bandet har siden da turnert Sør-Amerika, Europa, Australia og Nord-Amerika med stor suksess. Ulsect kommer fra den nederlandske byen Tilburg – som fra før er kjent for black metal-bandet Dodecahedron og prog-bandet Textures. Ulsect kommer fra dette miljøet og har med seg gitarist Joris Bonis og trommeslager Jasper Barendregt fra Dodecahedron, samt tidligere Textures-bassist Dennis Aarts. Det kommer derfor ikke som en overraskelse at elementer fra disse bandene gjennomsyrer Ulsects fantastiske debutalbum. Skiva låter som en frekk blanding av pionerer som Gorguts og Deathspell Omega.

savage master whips chains download archive With Whips and Chains. Kicking out the jams with palpable vicissitude and blazing flair is Kentucky's Savage Master who, with their latest heavy-hitting harangue, With Whips And Chains (released in April of last year under the highly reputable High Roller Records), provides the home of the Slugger - Louisville - and its bashing rivet heads an additional notch on the belt. That said, if you're fond of caustic and jagged, yet "rollicking", metal bands such as Motorhead, Demon Bitch and Night Viper you owe to it yourself to give this release a predatory lunge. Although ignominious and oily as sin, front woman Stacey Peak a.k.a. Savage's vocals are actually quite refreshing, albeit grimly; that is, tempered with evil ferment and compounded by cranked up, hopping instrumentation which indiscriminately won me over. Dig the bone jarring rattle punctuating "Path of the Necromancer" or captivating chorus to "Dark Light of the Moon". Don't be thrown off by the somewhat pedestrian song titles as the album's congenial and overall bad-ass vibe rabidly do 'em justice. In other words, expect this brand of no frills, in-for-the-kill mid- tempo metal to deliver while guaranteeing more than its fair share of gleeful, even giddy, returns. Expunged as they are, the dark, tempestuous lyrics initially gripped me with the fury of a hellion! Let's just say they wickedly "behoove" Stacy's kick-ass, currish caws. As for the guitar riffs, they're very compact and gruff, sort of like Bullet's but instead of evoking beers, hot rods and babes, SM's are simply dripping with venomous black wizardry and bile, at times madly grooving back and forth like a haunted rocking chair.

The main aim of the association is to promote and disseminate information about linguistic research relating to practical language problems in society. ASLA's activities areas follows: - arranging conferences, symposia and seminars, - publishing a newsletter for its members, - publishing symposium proceedings and other material, - distributing information and published material from AILA, - taking part in AILA's scientific commissions, committees and conferences. The newsletter "ASLA Information" is sent out three times a year. It gives details of literature, conferences etc. One issue a year also contains a section presenting ongoing research and developments in applied linguistics. A yearly symposium is arranged, with a theme which is of interest to researchers and practitioners. The proceedings of these autumn symposia are published in ASLA's publication series. The books in this series are yearbooks and they are distributed free of charge to ASLA members.
