On 26 July 1985 we wrote to Bedfordshire County Council announcing our intention to undertake a review of the County under section 48{1) of the Local Government Act 1972. Copies of the letter were sent to the principal local authorities, and parishes, in Bedfordshire and in the surrounding counties of Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire; to the National and County Associations of Local Councils; to the Members of Parliament with constituency interests and to the headquarters of the main political parties. In addition, copies were sent to those government departments, regional health authorities, water authorities, and electricity and gas boards which might have an interest, as well as to British Telecom, the English Tourist Board, the local government press and to local television and radio stations serving the area. 2. The County Councils were requested, in co-operation as necessary with the other local authorities, to assist us in publicising the start of the review by inserting a notice for two successive weeks in local newspapers so as to give a wide coverage in the areas concerned.

The following representations are made by Rapleys on behalf of the Bellcross Company (including subsidiaries, Bellcross Homes and Kensworth Builders Ltd) in respect of their land interests within Central Bedfordshire. 2. The land interests are fourfold – Land off Parkside, Houghton Regis, comprising some 13.8ha being promoted for residential development; Land off Trafalgar Drive, Flitwick, comprising some 7.3ha being promoted for residential development; Land off Dunstable Road, Caddington, comprising some 46ha, part of which is being promoted for residential development; and Land off Chalton Heights, Chalton, comprising some 14ha being promoted for mixed residential/employment/roadside development. 3. All four sites have previously been promoted through the iterations of the Local Plan and call for sites exercises. Rapleys welcomes the opportunity to participate in this consultation exercise and provide the following comments below in respect of the Councils draft Local Plan. 4. The representation commentary focusses in generic terms on the overall strategy being considered by the Council, as this is a major element of this consultation and should be read in that context. It is important to get this right rather than be too centred at this stage on the more general development control policies such as affordable housing, open space provision, etc. We reserve the right to provide further comment on these matters at the appropriate time (i.e., the next consultation). As a consequence of suggestions which had arisen in the course of the review of their parish boundaries, South Bedfordshire District Council wrote on 3 September 1980 requesting us to review the boundary between their district and Mid Bedfordshire District with a view to making proposals for changes in two places. One of the changes recommended to us arose from a suggestion by Barton-le-Clay Parish Council, and involved the transfer of an area of land from the parish of Pulloxhill in Mid Bedfordshire District to the parish of Barton-le-Clay in South Bedfordshire District, so that the whole of the Barton industrial estate would lie within Barton-le-Clay instead of straddling the boundary as at present. This change also affected one residential property (Faldo Farm) and an area of farmland. The other recommended change aiose from a suggestion by Hockliffe Parish Council, and involved the transfer of an axea of land from the parish of Battlesden in Mid Bedfordshire District to the parish of Hockliffe in South Bedfordshire District, in order to move the boundary away from the heart of the village of Hockliffe, and in particular to rectify the situation whereby the new Hockliffe village school was currently on the Battlesden side of the boundary.

    Northill Neighbourhood Plan Survey Results A survey was put together to gather the views of the residents in Northill Parish reagrding the Neighbourhood Plan. A paper and online survey were created. The paper survey was hand delievered by the Parish Council to all households in Northil in October 2015. The survey was open from 26th October 2015 to 11th January 2016. 419 responses were received, which was made up of 312 paper and 117 online responses. Where percentages do not add up to 100 it is due to rounding or where multiple responses were permitted. Below is a report of the findings from the survey.
