World Series on FOX reporter and insider Ken Rosenthal says the key will continue to be the Giants’ pitching. “The question is whether the Giants can extend their run of remarkable pitching for one more series,” said Rosenthal. “A cynic would suggest that they dominated feeble NL West offenses in September, then the depleted Braves in the Division Series, then the overrated Phillies in the NLCS. But at this point, only a fool would sell the Giants short.” For more from Rosenthal click here: http://j.mp/9kYT06 GOREN, SHANKS, BUCK, & MCCARVER PREVIEW RANGERS/GIANTS WORLD SERIES MATCH UP -- MLB on FOX's Emmy Award-winning broadcast team of Joe Buck and Tim McCarver were joined by FOX Sports President Eric Shanks and Vice Chairman Ed Goren on a conference call to answer questions and offer previews of this year’s World Series matchup. BUCK ON THE STORIES AND PERSONALITIES THAT TEXAS AND SAN FRANCISCO BRING TO THE BROADCAST : “I’m really excited about this matchup. We know how the Giants are built and they’re managed really well. They have a really unique clubhouse with tremendous personalities. I don’t think we’ve run across a guy in the postseason since we’ve started that has the personality of Brian Wilson. Texas is such great story and they’re finally here in the World Series in their 50th year. They finally have the pitching to match that lineup. There is a lot there to like. They have a closer that can tough 100mph. From a baseball and momentum standpoint, it’s a tremendous series going in. “ MCCARVER SUMS UP THE MATCHUP : “I look at it like it’s the balanced pitching of the Giants versus Cliff Lee and the offense and speed of Rangers.” GOREN ON WHAT THE MATCHUP SAYS ABOUT MLB’S PARITY : “We talk about parity in any given sports but I don’t know if many realize that in the last six years, the only team in baseball that has been to the World Series twice is in Philadelphia. You have Texas, San Francisco, Yankees, Phillies twice, Tampa, Boston, Colorado, St. Louis, Detroit, White Sox and Astros. For years we heard fans say that we want parity. Well, you’ve got it and it’s a great matchup.” SHANKS ON HAVING THE SAN FRANCISCO AND DALLAS/FT. WORTH MARKETS INVOLVED : “Both of these teams being the top-six markets, it’s only the second time in a decade that two top-six markets have been in the World Series. We always talk about New York, Chicago and LA, but having two top-six markets is a rare thing.” AFC EAST LEADERS TAKE CENTERSTAGE – The 2010 NFL on FOX campaign rolls into Week 8 on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1:00 PM ET with doubleheader coverage of six enticing matchups - each presented in true HD. "I applaud the league for what they're doing and I applaud the players for making an adjustment last Sunday, but believe me, there will come a time where there's a bang-bang play and the helmet-to-helmet contact will be unavoidable. I’m anxious to see how the league will respond,” said Lynch. “All this talk has created the perception that the NFL has a bunch of people out there trying to hurt each other and that’s not the case at all. I spoke with Commissioner Goodell last week and I told him I thought it was important that he comes out and changes that perception. I played for 15 years and I always thought one of the greatest things about the game was guys competed as hard as they could but no one was trying to hurt someone. Very few people in my entire career intentionally tried to hurt someone and I think it’s blatantly obvious when they do. Moving forward these players need to be dealt with harshly and be suspended.” -- FOX SPORTS -- .
