13_HOM_09_marcha_Layout 2 07/01/2015 10:32 Página 301 CRONOLOGIA DE LOS RECORDS Y MEJORES MARCAS ESPAÑOLAS DE ATLETISMO Marcha Es bien sabido lo difícil que resulta normalizar, homogeneizar o como se quiera decir, esta peculiar disciplina de la Marcha Atlética. Hay que distinguir entre pista y ruta, hay confusión sobre redondeos en segundos y supresión de décimas, confusión sobre si se homologaron o no determinadas marcas y en caso negativo, confusión sobre los motivos de su no oficialización. Hechas estas imprescindibles observaciones o advertencias, pasamos a explicar algunos detalles. No hemos incluido la prueba masculina de 15.000 metros, porque la cronología se puede reconstruir con las marcas conseguidas al paso para los 20.000 metros, ante la casi total carencia de celebración de competicio- nes específicas sobre esta distancia. Lo mismo ocurre con los 100 kilómetros en ruta, en que la escasísima his- toria se reconstruye al hilo de la evolución de la prueba de 50. Hemos indicado en sus respectivas pruebas las numerosas marcas no homologadas de Alberto Gurt (la mayoría en 10.000), teniendo en cuenta que este atleta vio oficializada una marca de 10.000 metros, conse- guida en el Campeonato Nacional de 1946, y otras dos en 20.000 metros en intentos de record. Ello parece in- dicar que no se ponía en cuestión su regularidad en el estilo, sino que faltaron requisitos técnicos, o se trató en algunos casos de entrenamientos controlados. En cambio, otras marcas de los años 40 y 50 en su momento publicadas pero que en ningún caso fueron reconocidas han sido directamente omitidas. Citaremos como ejemplos más importantes a José Ruiz que rea- lizó 22.30.8 (5.000 metros) y 44.27.2 (10.000 metros) en Orense el 23 de mayo de 1948, y 44.00.5 en La Co- ruña el 4 de julio de 1948. A la semana siguiente, en el Campeonato Nacional en Avilés, el día 10 Ruiz realizó un intento de record sobre 5.000 metros, con una marca de 21.32.0, que no fue homologada, y Gerardo García lo describió como “estilo irregular” en El Mundo Deportivo del día 15. Baker has been a race walker for 21 of his 31 years, accumulating victories, experience, and his own unique philosophy to life and sport along the way; an interstate Little Athletics title at the age of 12, a junior Australian title over 3000 meters at 18, Australian senior titles in his early 20s, 11th in the 20 Km at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, the 1986 Commonwealth Carnes 20 Km walk title at 28, sixth in the 50 km walk at last year's Olympics in Seoul. Simon Baker reached his summit on Sunday, May 28 in a small town near Barcelona, Spain, winning the World Walking Cup 50 Km race, a glorious and very logical highlight in a career that has been a tribute to patience and persistence. Race wa lkers, though they would warmly dispute it, are the mavericks of the athletic world. The field athletes-shotputters and discus, javelin and hammer throwers--tend to be a law unto themselves, and are of such a size that no one would think of poking at them. But the walkers train in public with a gait that always inspires comment.

OHIO APR IL 2004 U.S. World Cup Team Selected Overland Park, Kansas. April 4--ln a full day of racing, the U.S. team for the World Cup competition in Naumburg , Gennany , May I and 2 emerged . The day's racing included men's and women's events at 20 Km and junior men 's and women 's events at IO Km. Joining the team will be the men selected at an earlier 50 Km trial. The team includes five men and women at 20. five men at 50. and three juniors at IO for both men and women .. Today . Tim Seaman and Joanne Dow were easy winners in the two 20 Km races held on a 2 Km lap course . The women's race was dominated by veteran walkers with vast international experience . Joanne Dow , a couple of weeks past her 40th birlhday and a member of three Woorld Cup and two World Championship teams in the past, took command early in the race, dropping Teresa Vaill by 5 km and holding a 42 second lead as she passed JO km in 46:21. Content with the win. she didn't push for time and finished in I :34:44 , more than two minutes ahead of Vaill. Vaill, 41 , has been on six World Cup teams, dating back to 1985. She struggled over the second halfofthe race, but was still well clear of Michelle Rohl.

Obiettivo del premio non è solo quello di offrire un riconoscimento ai campioni dello sport, ma anche quello di evidenziare il troppo spesso oscuro lavoro di quegli atleti che, pur non praticando una disciplina sportiva popolare, hanno dedicato la loro vita e il loro entusiasmo agli sport minori, nobilitandone il ruolo e favorendone la diffusione. Il «Torretta» non si ferma allo sport perché premia, inoltre, persone che si sono distinte nella cultura, nelle professioni, nella solidarietà, per la qualità, la creatività, la capacità innovativa, l’umanità e il senso civico della loro opera. Anche per questo la manifestazione ha avuto ampi riconoscimenti a tutti i livelli istituzionali, a partire dalla Presidenza della Repubblica. Nell’ambito della manifestazione verrà assegnato il Trofeo «Atleta dell’Anno», in collaborazione con Telelombardia, Antenna 3.
