Pressemitteilung 18.03.2017 Stefan Baumeister gewinnt Heim-Weltcup Erfolgreiches Snowboard-Finale in Winterberg / Perfekte Piste Winterberg. Heimsieg für die deutschen Snowboard-Asse beim Weltcup-Finale im Parallelslalom in Winterberg. Stefan Baumeister zeigte eine erstklassige Leistung und setzte sich im Finale gegen Aaron March aus Italien durch. Bei den Damen siegte Sabine Schöffmann aus Österreich. Als beste Deutsche schied Carolin Langenhorst bei den Damen im Viertelfinale aus. Selina Jörg und Ramona Hofmeister scheiterten im Achtelfinale. Den Gesamt-Weltcup sicherte sich bei den Damen Ester Le- decka aus Tschechien, bei den Herren Andreas Prommegger aus Österreich. Trotz widriger Wetterbedingungen mit Dauerregen und Wind präsentierte sich die Piste in Winterberg am so genannten Poppenberg-Hang wie in den vergangenen Jahren bestens präpariert. Das knapp 150-köpfige Helfer-Team hatte bis tief in die Nacht wieder ganze Arbeit geleistet und für ausgezeich- nete Verhältnisse gesorgt. Dies dankten die weltbesten Snowboarder mit guten Leistungen und zum Teil sehr engen Duellen. Auch das Publikum ließ sich im Zielbereich die Laune nicht verderben und feuerte die Protagonisten lautstark an. Die Offiziellen des Skiweltverbandes FIS und des Snowboard- verbandes Deutschland zeigten sich beeindruckt vom bestens präparierten Hang angesichts des schlechten Wetters. „Dafür gebührt dem gesamten Team ein Riesenkompliment“, sagte Winterbergs Tourismus-Chef Michael Beckmann am Rande des Zielbereichs. Teamwettbewerb am Sonntag ab 10.15 Uhr Für Weltcup-Sieger Stefan Baumeister ging ein Traum in Erfüllung: „Es war perfekt, ich habe die an- deren während der Rennen überhaupt nicht gesehen, sondern mich nur auf mich konzentriert.“ Mit seinem Erfolg erfüllte er auch stellvertretend für das gesamte deutsche Team die Erwartungen des Deutschen Snowboard Verbandes (SVD). Sportdirektor Stefan Knirsch hatte noch am Donnerstag- abend das Ziel Podest ausgegeben. Mit dem Heimsieg beim letzten Weltcup dieser Saison feierte der Verband einen erfolgreichen Abschluss. Zumal Stefan Baumeister sich auch noch den zweiten Platz im Disziplin-Gesamtweltcup holte. Nach der Siegerehrung richteten die Organisatoren und Helfer nach einer kurzen Verschnaufpause den Blick auf den Sonntag. Dann steht zum ersten Mal der Teamwettbewerb in Winterberg auf dem Programm. Um 10.15 Uhr geht es los. Und vielleicht reicht es dann ja wieder zu einem Heimsieg für das deutsche Snowboard-Team. Yet sev- eral authors have found recent coverage of mega, multi-sport events, such as the Summer Olympic Games, to be more equitable towards women, particularly when examined proportionally to participation. The Czech Republic for various reasons has traditionally been resistant to feminist ideology, marking its unique positioning in providing an equitable presentation of women’s participation. Objective: To examine the influence of hegemonic masculinity in an Eastern European culture, portrayed through Czech online media coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. Methods: Online media coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games was examined for gendered differences of Czech athletes. Analysis of number of articles, length of articles, type of sport, and whether the article was about domestic or foreign athletes, was evaluated over 17 days of media coverage on two dominant Czech sport media websites. Results were compared in relation to gender, participation rates and medal success. Results: A total of 860 articles were reviewed, with 49.7% favoring male athletes, and 38.6% female. Articles about female athletes were largely composed of reporting on female medal winners (medal winning: media coverage correlation .845, p < .001), while those on male athletes were predominantly from the cultural dominant sport of men’s ice hockey (25.1%).
