The Conservation International Indonesia Annual Report 2007, page 15, tells of Delias kristianiae being named after the First Lady of Indonesia Kristiani “Ani” Bambang Yudhoyono. After finding a new butterfly species in the Mamberano Mountains, Conservation International researcher Br. Henk van Maastricht named it in honor of the President’s efforts to conserve Indonesia’s natural heritage. This butterfly was also chosen for Indonesia’s national stamp and it was commemorated on National Flora and Fauna Day, November 7, 2007.
