The history of these tribes included periods of integration and fragmentation, the political status of the tribes underwent changes, and their relations were dynamic. The period which preceded Islamization was characterized by significant changes: the transition from polytheism to monotheism, political fragmentation, loss of political independence and conquest first by Ethiopia, then by the Sassanid Empire, economic decline and depopulation. After South Arabian tribes became part of the Islamic caliphate, they were almost completely Arabized and lost their identity as a distinct civilization. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the political and cultural changes, which these tribes experienced as a result of Islamization. The key period covers the 6th and 7th centuries CE, through the so-called Wars of the Apostasy i.e. Ridda wars, with relevant information regarding earlier centuries analyzed for comparative purposes. Research is based on the reconstruction of information on individual tribes by analysis of pre-Islamic inscriptions, which is compared with information from medieval Islamic historiography in order to analyze the changes that have occurred regarding the political situation of the tribes and in their relationships with one another. Literature review In order to study this topic, various aspects of the history of South Arabia in the period from the 2nd century BCE until the Ridda Wars are analyzed. The period between 2nd and 3rd century CE had particular importance for understanding the history of South Arabia as a period of significant political transformation. Also the period between 6th and 7th century CE can be
