Debating Contest
Elakiya Ananthakrishnan of XI A participated in the Oldham Cup Debate Championship held in Singapore. She debated as a part of Team India White. The tournament drew participation from over 50 teams from Singapore, China, Nigeria and India. Elakiya ranked among the top 20 speakers. She was placed 18th out of about 220 participants and was awarded a medal.

Model United Nations: •K Medha of class VIB has been selected to attend the Model United Nations camp to be held from 06/08/2018 t0 13/08/2018 in South Korea. Pad Scholarship: •Padagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) is a prestigious scholarship offered by the Government of Germany to students who do exceedingly well in German Language and are in the age group of 15 -17 years. Only 8 students were selected from India . S. R. Rammyasri of XIB was the only student selected from South India. She spent one month in Germany, visited German Schools and collaborated with international students.

•In the Singapore International Choral Festival competition held in Singapore in july 2018, 7 out of 23 students participated from our school. They won bronze medal in two categories and a special jury award for their performance.

CBSE Regional Science Exhibition 2017- 18 was hosted by our school from 4th January 2018 to 6th January 2018. The exhibition was inaugurated on 4th January 2018 at 9.30am. The Chief guest for the function was Professor Rahul Siddharthan, an eminent computational biologist from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai. 106 Schools from Tamilnadu participated in the event displaying 190 exhibits The valedictory function of CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition was held at 3pm on 6th January 2018

Connecting Classrooms
Regular classes are organised using the recently setup studio in the campus.
Teachers of P.S. Senior Secondary School teach the Students of P.S. Temple Green Vidyashram, under the Connecting Classrooms Programme.
Regular Classes were held in Maths, Social Studies, English and Science for students of Classes VIII, IX and X from the month of June 2017.

Vidyapravesh is a unique programme for Class VI students initiating them into a significant phase of learning on completion of their education at the primary level. On this occasion, the students took a pledge in front of their parents to lead a life of compassion, truth and respect for elders. A Management and Entrepreneurship Certificate Programme, the first of its kind, was launched by Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai, one of India’s premier business schools and our school in August 2009.
The Great Lakes Management Programme – Batch IX was inaugurated on 20 .09 .2017 . Mr . M.S. Jagan, Independent Consultant, Ex. CEO, Ascendas India was the chief guest.

Beyond Boundaries
This initiative was started with the objective of providing students opportunities to explore beyond their curriculum in both scholastic and co- scholastic areas. A series of programmes have been organized since July 2015. The details of few programs organized in this academic year are as follows. Physics Prof.Balaji Sampath of Aha Guru conducted a lecture for class 11 students on laws of motion. Faculty from Arjuna group comprising of IITians gave lectures in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. .

He also addressed the students of class XI on te topic ‘Atomic Structure’ on 23/06/2018. Commerce A workshop on Demonetization and Overview of GST was organized by the school for students of Class XI of the Commerce stream on 24th March 2018. Shri. M.S. BODY, MIND AND WORLD PROGRAM
‘• The objective of the Programme is to provide an enabling environment for teaching and learning of the academic, social and interpersonal skills. We have developed an age appropriate interesting, relevant programme for classes I – VIII providing a weekly slot in the time table. Invited lectures, Awareness campaigns, Screening of relevant videos/documentaries are organized periodically. Gender equality, feminism and women empowerment . My Story as a (Wo)man is an organisation that aims to spread gender sensitivity and awareness, especially among students. Subha Nivedha an alumnae of P.S. Senior Secondary School s the founder and CEO of MSAAW. She is currently pursuing LLM at Leiden University in Den Haag, Netherlands. The other members range from Charted Accountants to Engineers who have all come together to initiate a change in schools. MSAAW conducted a 5 week workshop of one hour per week with the students of class 11 about various issues like gender inequality, cyber bullying, body positivity, legal rights and so on. 45 P S Sr. Sec. •Mrs.Sumitra Srikanth, Mr K.L.Balasubramanian members of solid waste management forum of Mylalpore gave Lectures on waste management . An organic garden is established in the school which is maintained by the eco- club students. An Wall painting exercise was organized by the members of the forum along with the eco club students on themes relating to environment.

•Choral Music Classes Training in choral music through a structured curriculum programme is offered to students of Classes I to V during school hours with the expertise and support of Rhapsody Music Foundation managed by Mr. Anil Srinivasan, well- known composer and Mrs. Sudha Raja, Choral Music expert. Our choir group performed in the fifth year event of Rhapsody foundation in front of Shri A R Rahman. They also performed in several events including the huge event ‘Vande Matharam’ in Vani Mahal.

Our school has been extending ongoing mentoring support to P S Temple Green Vidyashram,a. unit of P S Educational society since its inception. Teachers from P S Senior visit PS Temple Green Vidyashram twice every week offering academic support.
P S Temple Green Vidyashram teachers also plan periodic visits to P S Senior Secondary School to meet Head of the Departments for review. They also attend professional development programmes organized by our school.

The 31 st Annual Cultural Fiesta of P. S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore, Chennai-4, “ Scintillations – 17” was held on July 21-22, 2017. Renowned Carnatic vocalist Shri. Ramakrishnan Murthy inaugurated the function.

In memory of Shri.P.C. Sekhar the first Hony.Secretary and Correspondent of our school, we host an annual interschool music competition since the year 2013 (the birth centenary year of Shri.P.C. Sekhar).

The Annual Science Project Day was held on 16th & 17th February 2018 on the theme “ Innovations for Sustainable development” and the sub themes were Waste management and water body conservation, Transport and Communication, Digital and Technological solutions .The objective of the project is to kindle the spirit of enquiry and experimentin Science and Technology with specific relevance to the identified themes and suggest innovative solutions. .Dr Ananthakrishnan Sivaraman, Consultant Urologist and Clinical lead and director for Robotic surgery , Apollo Group of Hospitals, India inaugurated the programme . P.S. Senior Model United Nations (PSMUN) 2017
The 5th Edition of P.S. Model United Nations was conducted at our School on the 23rd and 24th of October 2017. The event drew participation from over 200 delegates from city schools. There were six committees including the International Press Corps. Mr. Satchidananda Valan Michael of the UNHCR inaugurated the event on 23rd October, 2017. Mr. Madhusudan Ganapathy, IFS (Retd), Former Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India was the chief guest for the valedictory function. Inauguration of Sri. C.V.Narasimhan Memorial Block The inauguration of P.S. Senior Secondary School’s “Shri. C.V. Narasimhan Memorial Block” was held on 22nd November, 2017. The block which houses the school’s Digital Library has been dedicated to the memory of Shri. C.V. Narasimhan, the illustrious former Chairman of P.S. Educational Society. Shri. E.S.L. Narasimhan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana was the Chief Guest. He also delivered the first C.V. Narasimhan Memorial Endowment Lecture instituted by the P.S. Educational Society under the title ‘Governance : Challenges Ahead’.
