ANNUAL REPORT Apr 2015 - Mar 2016 Telegram: MATSCIENCE Telephone: +91-44-22543100,22541856 Fax:+91-44-22541586 Website: http://www.imsc.res.in/ e-mail: offi[email protected] Foreword The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai has completed 53 years and I am pleased to present the annual report for 2015-2016 and note the strength of the institute and the distinctive achievements of its members. Our PhD students strength is around 170, and our post-doctoral student strength is presently 59. We are very pleased to note that an increasing number of students in the country are ben- efiting from our outreach programmes (for instance, Enriching Mathematics Education, FACETS 2015, Physics Training and Talent Search Workshop) and we are proud of the efforts of our faculty, both at an individual and at institutional level in this regard. IMSc has started a monograph series last year, with a plan to publish at least one book every year. A book entitled “Problems in the Theory of Modular Forms” as ‘IMSc Lecture Notes - 1’ has been published this year Academic productivity of the members of the Institute has remained high. There were several significant publications reported in national and international journals and our faculty have authored a few books as well. Five students were awarded Ph.D., and three students have submitted their Ph.D. theses. Four students were awarded M.Sc. by Research, and two students have submitted their master’s theses under the supervision of our faculty. -

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1 INTRODUCTION Sri Sairam Engineering College (SSEC) was established in the year 1995 by MJF.Ln.Leo Muthu, Managing Director of Leo Group of Companies as an unaided engineering college.This institution is located in a sprawling campus of about 40 acres at Sai Leo Nagar, Dharkast near Tambaram, a suburb of Chennai City. This institution, approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and All India Council for Technical Education, is affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai. Presently, Shri.J.Sai Prakash Leo Muthu as CEO and Managing Trustee of the Institution, is providing by his dynamic leadership all the encouragement and support. The Institution commenced its functioning from the academic year 1995-96, with 178 students and 20 faculty members, offering degree programmes in Mech, EEE and ECE . Presently it has a strength of 4695 students and 367 faculty members offering 9 UG and 8 PG programmes. All the programmes, eligible for accreditation, have also been accredited by National Board of Accreditation(NBA) . SSEC graduates are placed in a diverse range of organizations. A great many students have gone for their higher studies both within India and abroad. -

Introduction of new course • The college introduced a new course – B.Sc Psychology this year, keeping up with the demand and requirement of the student community. Silver Jubilee Celebrations 2016-2017 is a special year for MOP ians , the year marked the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the college. It has been 25 years of “Redefining Women’s Education” for M.O.P Vaishnav College. • The Inauguration of Silver Jubilee Celebrations took place on 13th July, 2016 • The College launched The Centre of Excellence, in keeping with the mission goals of the college on 13 July, 2017.
