My Own Words
Have you ever thought – I must write that down? Or is there a family member whose stories you’d love to have recorded? My Own Words offers a professional, sensitive and bespoke service helping people to make an oral recording of their stories, anecdotes or memoirs in a location of their choice. How we work: we discuss with the client what kind of recording is required (a life story or a focus on a particular interest or a particular moment in time or a desert island discs…there are so many options!), we establish where and when, and work out if we think it will be one or more than one recording (an hour or an hour and a half is usually enough in one sitting). We make sure we understand any needs the client may have or if they will be accompanied by a carer.
We will provide you with a digital copy of the recording we have made. We also offer to:
● transcribe recordings
● write up the book as a full memoir including photographs (options of extra research and fact/date checking)
● take photographs or use other digital media
● work with anyone who is no longer able to communicate with words but may like to create their own unique artwork with a local artist or craftsperson.
