It’s quite similar in style to Ancient Ys I&II, so Ys fans will find it very enjoyable. The story begins with Ratok, a descendant of the Duel bloodline, receiving a distress message from Farland Castle… For the longest time, the world has been split into three, Fairy, Demon, and Human, mainly for the purpose of having the demons sealed away… Yet somehow, the demons have found a way to enter the Human World to launch an invasion, beginning with Farland Kingdom. One kingdom after another falls to their terrible reign of terror. Ratok is informed of the situation by a dying man’s last breath, and thus begins his journey to stop the demons from their dreams of conquest… Translation Description: The game is done! The game is done! Since I don’t have the game itself I can’t review it, but woohoo, the game is done! The patch is in PPF format, which you will need PPF-o-Matic to apply. The file includes instructions on how to rip and patch your legit copy of the game. Eheh. It also contains a few small gameplay changes, making it a lot less painful to play. The game is fully playable in English. The text prints faster. You can now ‘tap’ the button to proceed at the end of a text box. The infuriatingly slow scrolling speed is now much quicker. The unskippable intro now plays only once–if you die or reset, it will skip the intro and start the game directly. Hopefully some folks who were put off by it before can now complete and perhaps even find some enjoyment from this infamous HuCARD game. PC-Engine Translations by Dave Shadoff. OK, I just got the bug to do some translations and other hacks for the TurboGrafx/PC-Engine consoles. And maybe the PC-FX eventually, you never know. I did a couple of quick tests on a couple of HuCard games, and a couple of CD-ROM games, and I have been in contact with NightWolve of #TurboDuo on DALNet, who has given me some good ideas and information. I also did a quick test on Lunatic Dawn, a PC-FX game. While searching for text and translating it to english could be a tough job, at least it appears that PC-FX games can accept ASCII for more compressed text messages, without the same trouble that PC Engine games usually have. Shanghai HuCard. It is only 1 megabit Only the menu items needed translation All Japanese was stored as katakana, so it was easy to translate. It went pretty fast - it only took about a day and a half. I redefined the 8x12 graphic font with alphabetic characters instead of kana, but I couldn't easily get it print regular ASCII text - so I had to use the kana bytecodes for my english text. I even had to define a few custom tiles with compressed versions of some words so they would fit in less space. Yeah, I was just too lazy to find and alter the pointers to the text. However miscellaneous grunts will retain their original Japanese. It also replaces the old German narrator with the new narration that was in the PSP and VC release of the game. If you, for whatever reason, do not like this you can easily swap back the original narration (Track03) after it is done patching. 2019 Note* The patch still has untranslated bits. The voice clips during the Death and Dracula fights are still in Japanese. The credits are also untranslated, but that part has already been mentioned by the author.
