This can be comfortably said looking at the fact that Madhya Pradesh lies third after Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. • Undivided MP was in fact first in Mineral production in India. At present 23 minerals are being found in the state. The state is famous for its traditional handicrafts and handloom cloth manufactured in Chanderi and Maheswari. • Madhya Pradesh is known as Soya state • As much as 49% of the land area is cultivable. Recently the state has bagged prestigious Krishi Karman Award for fifth year and this sector has contributed significantly to states prosperity and development. Foundation day 1 November, 1956 Reorganization day 1 November, 2000 HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT • King Asoka, first of all ruled over Ujjain. • A sizable portion of Central India was part of the Gupta Empire (300 -500A.D.). • The Muslims came into Central India in the beginning of 11thcentury. • First of all, Mahmud Ghazni came over here and the Mohammad Gouri, who incorporated some parts of the Central India into the ruling territory of Delhi. • Central India was also part of the Mughal Empire. • During the period between the beginning of the influence of Marathas and the death of Madhoji Scindia in 1794, Marathas were on the ascendant in Central India but later on the small states started coming into existence. • These small states become the cause of perpetuation of British power in the country. • Queen Durgawati and Rani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore, the Gond Maharani Kamalapati etc. were women rulers whose names have left an indelible mark on Indian history for their outstanding rule. • Madhya Pradesh came into being on 1st November 1956. • In its present form it was reorganized on 1st November 2000 to create a new Chhattisgarh State. Based on the extensive research accomplishments, University has identified about 65 crop farming systems suitable for Madhya Pradesh. The State holds flagship in quality and production with trusted brand 'Jawahar Seed'. The world famous Jawahar Soybean crop varieties are being grown over 92% area at national level. For the benefit of resource poor farmers, development of short duration hybrids for enhancing cropping intensity has been the priority area. Utilization of fallow land, hi-tech horticulture for off-season production of vegetables, integrated farming system for enhancing nutritional and food security of small and marginal farmers, awareness for organic farming, resource conservation, development of suitable mechanisation for timely harvesting with added value of the produce, are the major achievements that helped in enhancing socio-economic status of farmers.

The two-day meeting of the BRICS Women’s Parliamentarian Forum was begun in Jaipur on August 20, in which 42 delegates from member countries participated. ii. A total of 42 delegates from the BRICS countries are attending the meeting which will have different plenary sessions on August 20 and 21. iii. There will be five women parliamentarians from Brazil, three from Russia, 28 from India, two from China and four from South Africa. iv. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan inaugurated the BRICS Women’s Parliamentarian Forum.This forum helped to have one voice as women Parliamentarians to organise, mobilise, motivate and advance women. v. The BRICS nations’ women parliamentarian forum adopted the Jaipur declaration calling upon international financial institutions to “support and facilitate financing for development on favorable terms” to developing and least developed countries. ================================================================================== Government set to ban cash transactions over Rs 3 lakh The government is set to ban cash transactions over Rs 3 lakh as it seeks to clamp down on black money in the economy following recommendations from the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team. The government, however, is yet to decide on the SIT’s other proposal to bar cash holdings over Rs 15 lakh due to opposition from trade and industry. The Rs 3 lakh-limit is aimed to ensure that transactions are made using credit or debit cards, cheques or drafts which can be easily tracked. The government has already initiated several steps, including banning cash advance of more than Rs 20,000 for property transactions.
