    Weekly Report On Israeli Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (14­ 20 January 2016) Israeli forces continue systematic crimes in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) (21 –27 January 2016) Hebron – Group of Palestinian Civilians at Israeli Checkpoint. Israeli forces continued to use excessive force in the oPt 3 Palestinian civilians, including 2 children, were killed in theWest Bank. 22 Palestinian civilians, including 3 children, were wounded in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Israeli forces continued to open fire at areas along the Gaza Strip borders, but no casualties were reported. Israeli warplanes conducted 2 airstrikes in the central and southern Gaza Strip, but no casualties were reported. Israeli forces conducted 73incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank. 47 Palestinian civilians, including 7 children, were arrested. 11 of them, including 4 children, were arrested in occupied Jerusalem. Among the arrested were the PLC member Hatem Qafisha and former Minister Essa al­ Ja’bari. Israeli forces continued to target Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip sea. 4 fishermen, including a child, were arrested and their fishing boat was confiscated. Jewish majority efforts continued in occupied East Jerusalem. A family self­demolished its house in Sour Baher village and more demolition notices were issued against houses in Silwan. The Israeli municipality demolished an underconstruction house in al­Mukaber Mount. A house in Shu’fat village was demolished in favour of establishing Road 21. Settlement activities continued in the West Bank. An agricultural room and a well in Beit Oula village, west of Hebron, were demolished. Israeli forces turned the West Bank into cantons and continued to impose the illegal closure on the Gaza Strip for the 9th Dozens of temporary checkpoints were established in the West Bank and others were re­ established to obstruct the movement of Palestinian civilians.

    Raimund Fastenbauer Islamic Antisemitism: Jews in the Qur’an, Reflections of European Antisemitism, Political Anti-Zionism: Common Codes and Differences Introduction Antisemitism in today’spolitical and academic discourse very often is limited to discussions regardingthe racialextreme right-wing antisemitism arising out of Christian anti-Judaism. This is onlypart of the story.The Jewishcommunities in Europe and the State of Israel are confronted with an antisemitismfrom three directions,however connected with each other: the extreme right,the ex- treme left,and political Islam.This essayfocuses on Islamic antisemitism. There is adiscourse about the extent to which there is aconnection between Islam as religion, political Islam,and anti-Jewish or antisemitic orientation. A closer look at the Qur’an is necessary to understand the complexity,even more so giventhat such old motifs are ignored and Islamic antisemitism is downplayed. Other motifs, however,seem to be aresultofthe export of European antise- mitism into the Middle East in colonial timesand later,especiallyinthe 1930s, as nationalist anti-British and anti-French sentiment developed. This development is called “Islamised Antisemitism.”¹ Agood example and modern denier of are- ligious original Islamic antisemitism is SadikJ.al-Azm. He onlyconsiders Islam- ic antisemitism as “Islamised Antisemitism,” as areflection of Christian antisem- itism and as aperception of the ideologyofNational Socialism in the 1930s. The answer is not an either or but a both and with respect to the sourceofantisemitic motifs and codes.     The Golden Rule in Islam: Ethics of Reciprocity in Islamic Traditions Justin Parrott, MLIS Supervised by Prof. Gary Bunt Submitted in partial fulfilment for the award of the degree of Masters of Research in Islamic Studies University of Wales Trinity Saint David 2018 1 Abstract The ethics of reciprocity, known as the “golden rule,” is any moral dictum that encourages people to treat others the way they would like to be treated. The principle exists in the sacred texts of the world’s religions as well as the writings of secular philosophers. Due to its ubiquity in many contexts, it has become an important focal point for interfaith dialogue and the development of international human rights norms. Islam, as a world religion with over one billion followers, has an important role to play in facilitating dialogue and cooperation with other groups in the modern world. The golden rule in Islamic traditions has been explicitly invoked by numerous Muslim leaders and organizations towards this end. This study examines the phenomenological appearance of the golden rule in Islamic texts and modern interfaith dialogue with Muslims. Sources include the Qur’ān, Ḥadīth traditions, exegetical commentaries, extracanonical or apocryphal literature, and contemporary works. Sections are organised by genre of literature and are loosely chronological. Key interpretive points from the classical period are related to modern interfaith initiatives and universal human rights, with a view of demonstrating the ways in which the classical heritage informs the experiences of Muslims today. 2 Table of Contents 1.
