Dazu kommt eine Auswahl von Singles, Demos und Remixen, zu denen ein grandioser Outtake von Think About Me, eine frühe Version von That’s Enough For Me mit dem Titel Out On The Road und gleich mehrere Versionen von I Know I’m Not Wrong gehören. Zwei der fünf CDs enthalten überdies 22 bisher unveröffentlichte Live-Aufnahmen aus London, Tucson und St. Louis, die während der Tusk-Tour von 1979 aufgenommen wurden. Darunter befinden sich Live- Versionen von Sara, Over And Over und Save Me A Place sowie von Songs, die nicht von Tusk stammen, etwa Landslide, You Make Loving Fun, Rhiannon, Don’t Stop und Go Your Own Way. • Dolemite Is My Name
DOLEMITE IS MY NAME Written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski FINAL IN THE BLACK We hear Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On" playing softly. VOICE I ain't lying. People love me. INT. DOLPHIN'S - DAY CU of a beat-up record from the 1950s. On the paper cover is a VERY YOUNG Rudy, in a tuxedo. It says "Rudy Moore - BUGGY RIDE" RUDY You play this, folks gonna start hoppin' and squirmin', just like back in the day. A hand lifts the record up to the face of RUDY RAY MOORE, late '40s, black, sweet, determined. RUDY When I sang this on stage, I swear to God, people fainted! Ambulance man was picking them off the floor! When I had a gig, the promoter would warn the hospital: "Rudy's on tonight -- you're gonna be carrying bodies out of the motherfucking club!" We see that we are in a RADIO BOOTH. A sign blinks "On The Air." The DJ, ROJ, frowns at the record. ROJ "Buggy Ride"? RUDY Wasn't no small-time shit. ROJ GodDAMN, Rudy! That record's 1000 years old! I've got Marvin Gaye singin' "Let's Get It On"! I can't be playin' no "Buggy Ride." (beat) Look, I have 60 seconds. I have to cue the next tune. Hm! Rudy bites his lip and walks away. Roj tries to go back to his job. He reaches for a Sly Stone single -- when Rudy suddenly bounds back up. RUDY How about "Step It Up and Go"? That's a real catchy rhythm-and-blues number.

  • The Story of Israel at 66 Through the Songs of Arik Einstein
1 The Soundtrack of Israel: The Story of Israel at 66 through the songs of Arik Einstein Israel turns sixty six this year and a so much has happened in this seemingly short lifetime. Every war, every peace treaty, every struggle, and every accomplishment has left its impact on the ever changing character of the Jewish State. But throughout all of these ups and downs, all of the conflicts and all of the progress, there has been one voice that has consistently spoken for the Jewish nation, one voice that has represented Israelis for all 66 years and will continue to represent a people far into the future. That is the voice of Arik Einstein. Einstein’s music, referred to by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the “soundtrack of Israel,” transcended generations. Einstein often took the words of high-brow Israeli poets such as Chaim Nachman Bialik, Rahel, Nathan Alterman and Avraham Halfi and turned them into rock anthems sung by vibrant Israeli youth. Einstein captured the heart and soul of Israelis old and young. For every Zionist, peacenik, settler, hopeless romantic, nostalgia aficionado and child (or child at heart) in Israel, there is at least one Arik Einstein song that speaks to them. For every historic Israeli moment, there is an Arik Einstein song that represents the emotion of a united nation, or a shuttered people. Although fairly unknown outside of Israel, Arik Einstein was loved by all, and mourned by all after his sudden death in November of 2013, when tens of thousands of Israelis joined together to pay their respects to the iconic Sabra at a memorial service in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv.

  • Host in the Machine"
Uncanny County "Host in the Machine" Episode 2-A By: Todd Faulkner © 2017, Todd Faulkner [email protected] Scene 1: SOUND: INTERIOR - CAR DRIVING, (Music on radio?) MORGAN: You don’t find this strange? (beat) The secret interview at a casual restaurant - using code names, for god’s sake - driving out to meet the woman I’m theoretically replacing at a backup television studio in the middle of nowhere? BRANDON: I just figured it was par for the course in the news biz. Or a ritual sacrifice. (beat) That last part was a joke. MORGAN: (without humor) It was funny. BRANDON: Morgan - Helen looks harmless enough - MORGAN: (chiding him) Ms. Macklowe - News 3’s executive producer - is no one to be afraid of. Unless you’re trying to hide a big story from her. BRANDON: And she said the job was yours. MORGAN: If Connie Ambrose signs off. (beat) Well, after all these years, I guess she has earned that right. BRANDON: There’s that accent. Does it always come back when you come home? MORGAN: No. And it’s not home. Not for years now. (beat) There - she’s turning up ahead. BRANDON: I see it. Wow. This is off the map. MORGAN: It’s their old studio. Apparently it’s the only place Connie will work. BRANDON: OK, that’s a little weird. MORGAN: I guess if you’re as big as she is, you get what you want. (explaining) (beat) There it is. On the right. SOUND: Car turns, road gets bumpier BRANDON: (beat) You know this would be a huge change for us.

THE BIG SICK by Emily V. Gordon & Kumail Nanjiani 1 OVER BLACK. We hear audience laughter. ANDY DODD (V.O.) Give it up for my man, Mr. Kumail Nanjiani! KUMAIL (V.O.) Hello. I grew up in Pakistan. And people are always asking me, what was that like? Really not that different from here. I mean we played cricket, which is just a spicer version of baseball. And we prayed a lot. Well not a lot, just five times a day. And we marry someone our parents find for us. Arranged marriage, you know. For me, it was probably that we got episodes of the A-Team a little bit later. And by a little bit later, I mean we just got episode two. But other than that, it was exactly the same. A CREDIT SEQUENCE PLAYS. Kumail drives an Uber around Chicago with VARIOUS PASSENGERS in the backseat. INT. TRIPLE DOOR - PRESENT DAY - NIGHT Kumail walks into the comedy club as MARY is doing a set on stage. CHRIS intercepts Kumail as he walks backstage. CHRIS There's no bad crowds dude. Only bad comedians. KUMAIL You complain about the crowd like all the time. CHRIS Yeah, but that's when they're really bad. KUMAIL So like ninety percent of the time, they're really bad? 2 CHRIS Will you just watch and give me notes tonight? If we both give each other notes, I think it would be helpful. KUMAIL Your notes are just to add more "fucks" into the bit. CHRIS Fuck's a funny word.

  • The Affective Politics of Home: Queer Familial Imaginations in 20Th and 21St Century Chinese Theatre and Film
THE AFFECTIVE POLITICS OF HOME: QUEER FAMILIAL IMAGINATIONS IN 20TH AND 21ST CENTURY CHINESE THEATRE AND FILM A Dissertation Presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of Cornell University In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Jen-Hao Hsu August 2013 © 2013 Jen-Hao Hsu The Affective Politics of Home: Queer Familial Imaginations in 20th and 21st Century Chinese Theatre and Film Jen-Hao Hsu, PhD Cornell University, 2013 This dissertation studies representative queer texts across various media (literature, theater and cinema) in relation to the changing melodramatic and sentimental modes of representations of home throughout 20th and 21st century China. Depictions of home in modern China are often expressed through these modes; the aesthetics of these modes concerns the ontological question of loss in China’s coerced passage into modernity. This melancholic loss is often associated with the constructions of “Chineseness”—cultural attempts to anchor, in the words of Rey Chow, “a non-Western but Westernized” Chinese identity. This project seeks to understand how queerness, as sites of affective excess indicating unresolved social contradictions, intervenes the melodramatic or sentimental tendency towards ideological closures, which secure orthodox Chinese identities. This project identifies four geo-historical sites that provide historical conditions of possibility for queerness to emerge in relation to the notion of home and family. My geo-historical sites of analysis are Republican China, post-Martial Law Taiwan, post-Socialist China and contemporary Taiwan and China. For Republican China, I analyze the case of Ouyang Yuqian and explore his committed theatre career of female impersonation.

  • Eternal-Witchiness-Stevie-Nicks
Ife Oshun: 00:00 In this episode we'll discuss the timeless witchy appeal of Stevie Nicks, singer mystic poet, her music magic compels generations. No one can deny that she's a top notch singer, songwriter as a prominent vocalist for the iconic band Fleetwood Mac. She was responsible for penning some of their more popular songs. After five years with Fleetwood Mac, she launched a successful solo career, which continues to this day. According to Wikipedia, quote six of her eight studio albums reached the U S top 10 she has sold a certified 10,500,000 albums in the U S alone and approximately 30 million records worldwide. And quote, she is the first woman to be inducted twice into the rock and roll hall of fame. Her influence on contemporary artists such as Lana Del Ray, Harry Styles, Vanessa Carlton, just to name a few, is extensive. And in late 2019 she recorded new music with Sheryl Crow and continues to be a living, breathing rock and pop legend. Ife Oshun: 01:15 But is the Stevie Nicks allure due to just her indisputable talent or is there something more, something not so tangible or easy to put into words? There are many iconic rock goddesses who are still alive. People like Chrissie Hynde or Tina Turner, Debbie Harry, just to name three women who sold millions of records and broke many music industry molds, but despite their achievements, they haven't quite managed to deeply permeate contemporary pop culture the way Stevie Nicks has. What makes Stevie Nicks so appealing to not just her own boomer generation, but also generations X, Y, and even Z? Could it be her raspy, completely unique singing voice? It's arguably impossible to imitate.
