While she cooled off a little, Rivera still led the 5/23-27 NCAA CWS team last week in batting average with a .455 mark, including two runs scored, three doubles, Oklahoma City, Okla. SOFTBALL SOFTBALLSOFTBALL At The Top Of Their Game: In the fourth set of NCAA rankings through April 29, Washington USA Today/NFCA continues to appear prominently in several categories. Div. I Poll (5/1/02) As a team, the Huskies rank 30th in both team batting average (.290) and winning percentage Rank Team (1st Pl Vts) W-L Vts LR (.722), while they are 28th in earned-run average (1.39) and 21st in scoring (5.15 runs/game). 1. UCLA (27) 44-6 675 1 Individually, Jaime Clark ranks second in the nation in RBI with 61, is tied for seventh in 2. Cochran, a sophomore from Yorba Linda, Calif., led the Sun Devils to their best Conference finish in 16 years. Arizona State was 13-8 in the Pac-10 and finished runner-up for the first time since 1991 and much was due to Cochran's prowess at the plate. The sophomore leads the nation in batting average entering the postseason with a .506 average. Cochran ranks first in the Pac-10 in batting average, slugging percentage (.931), on-base percentage (.621), runs scored (70), hits (88), home runs (18), total bases (162), and walks (47).

Washington is fresh off a 2 p.m. sweep of its opponents at the NFCA Leadoff Classic to win pool six and record its best start in its 11-year history.
