Email: [email protected] ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to identify the values of character education in Disney's animated film "The Good Dinosaur." The study was a descriptive qualitative study in which data from the film's story, plot, and setting were gathered through close reading. The research procedure was watching, identifying, analyzing, and concluding, which can be repeated many times to ensure the data. The film served as the research's data source, and the study's object was character education values. In this study, eighteen-character education values were used, as stated in the Minister of National Education's decision (2010) and to be reinforced by Perpres number 87 in 2017. This study discovered thirteen-character education values: discipline, honesty, Tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, curiosity, love homeland, appreciating achievement, friendly/communicative, love peace, sociality, and responsibility. It can be concluded that media such as movies can be used to teach children character values. Keywords: The Good of Dinosaurus, Film, Character Education 1. Educational and Therapeutic Impact of Contemporary Animated Film Characters on the Viewer

A motion picture has been a tool for many practition- ers. Educators, psychologists, therapists, and animators have long appreci- ated and used film art in their work. Considering the increasing pervasion of the mass media into human life, its presence in many aspects of human functioning, it is necessary to pay close attention to the power of its influ- ence. It is worth noting that the products of popular culture do not only carry risks. Films created for commercial purposes also serve higher purposes, not just entertainment. Being easier in perception for the viewer at any age (through the frequency of contact with this cultural product), it can influence their emotions more strongly, encourage deeper mental work and stimulate reflection. In this article I would like to focus primarily on the possibilities of supporting upbringing and human development, referring to the assump- tions of film therapy (Kozubek, 2016). According to Depta, “the starting point of educational work with a film should be the use of such films that are most popular among young viewers while increasing their cognitive horizons” (Depta, 1983, p. 165). The potential of contemporary animated films seems to be indisputable in this respect, as will be demonstrated by the analysis of the main factor of their influence on the viewer, namely film heroes. -

ADVANCE Disney and Pixar’s original feature film “Luca” is a fun and heartwarming story about friendship, stepping out of your comfort zone and two teenage sea monsters who experience a life-changing summer. “This movie is about the friendships that change us,” says director Enrico Casarosa. “It’s a love letter to the summers of our youth—those formative years when you’re finding yourself.” Adds producer Andrea Warren, “It’s a magical coming-of-age-story. It’s about remembering the people who shaped us along the way.” Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, “Luca” is a story about one boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, Alberto, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are both sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface. “Luca is a shy, polite, introverted, rule-following kid who has a secret desire to see the world and learn all he can,” says screenwriter Jesse Andrews. “But he’s been told his whole life that sea monsters should never go above the surface of the water where all the interesting stuff seems to be happening.” So it’s no surprise that Luca harbors a secret fascination with all things human. Press release CaixaForum Madrid From 21 March to 22 June 2014 Press release CaixaForum Madrid hosts the first presentation in Spain of a show devoted to the history of a studio that revolutionised the world of animated film “The art challenges the technology. Technology inspires the art.” That is how John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer at Pixar Animation Studios, sums up the spirit of the US company that marked a turning-point in the film world with its innovations in computer animation. This is a medium that is at once extraordinarily liberating and extraordinarily challenging, since everything, down to the smallest detail, must be created from nothing. Pixar: 25 Years of Animation casts its spotlight on the challenges posed by computer animation, based on some of the most memorable films created by the studio. Taking three key elements in the creation of animated films –the characters, the stories and the worlds that are created– the exhibition reveals the entire production process, from initial idea to the creation of worlds full of sounds, textures, music and light. Pixar: 25 Years of Animation traces the company’s most outstanding technical and artistic achievements since its first shorts in the 1980s, whilst also enabling visitors to discover more about the production process behind the first 12 Pixar feature films through 402 pieces, including drawings, “colorscripts”, models, videos and installations. Deixis Analysis of the Good Dinosaur the Movie Nur Kholis Sekolah Indonesia, Kuala Lumpur. [email protected] Abstract This essay is a descriptive qualitative research which will attempt to answer the following objectives: (1) what are types of deixis found in the movie of “The Good Dinosaur”? And (2) what is the most dominant deixis found in the movie “The Good Dinosaur” and the analysis? From the analysis of the movie entitled “The Good Dinosaur”, found some data finding about the types of deixis which used in the movie. Five types of deixis they are: personal deixis, time deixis, place deixis, social deixis, and discourse deixis found in the film in the different data percentage. Personal deixis found in the highest percentage which directly answers the second objective with the data collection 80%, time deixis 5%, place deixis 3%, social deixis 9% and discourse deixis 3%. Personal deixis has a correlation to the point of view of narrating the film “The Good Dinosaur”. This caused by the finding of personal deixis involving thr first, second and third pronoun in determining the story. Further, this contribute to make the personal deixis dominate the deixis used in the film. Key Words: Deixis, Types of deixis, Personal deixis. Abstrak Karangan ini merupakan sebuah penelitian deskriptif qualitatif yang akan mencoba menjawab rumusan masalah: (1) Jenis-jenis deiksis apakah yang ditemukan dalam film yang berjudul “The Good 113 Deixis Analysis of the Good Dinosaur the Movie Dinosaur”? dan (2) Apakah jenis deiksis yang dominan ditemukan dalam film “The God Dinosaur” serta analisisnya?. Dari analisis film yang berjudul “The Good Dinosaur”, ditemukan beberapa penemuan data tentang jenis-jenis deiksis yang digunakan dalam film.
