All rooms are beachfront, sea-facing and non-smoking. MEALS Guests are spoiled for choice as the resort serves a wide variety of local delicacies and international delights, ranging from authentic Malaysian, Western and Chinese flavors. Besides offering hearty meals throughout the day, an array of delightful snacks and beverages are available to make chill-out sessions even better. GETTING TO MERSING If you are driving from Singapore to Mersing, the distance is about 134 kilometers. Mersing Jetty is located along Jalan Abu Bakar road, opposite from the Mersing Marine Park Office. There is a gated parking compound located next to Mersing Jetty entrance. Payment for the use of the car park is to the Parking Attendant’s Office at the entrance of the car park. Chartered vehicle can be arranged for group bookings. Please contact us for charter arrangement. SEA JOURNEY The journey from Mersing to Tioman Island is approximately 2 and half hours. Friday departures for weekend packages are usually scheduled in the late evening, while weekday packages will usually depart at noon time. For the return journey from Tioman Island, departure is usually mid-day or early afternoon, subject to daily tide and weather condition at Mersing jetty. CLIMATE Malaysia is a country within the Southeast Asia region. The prevailing weather in Malaysia is tropical with an average annual temperature ranging between 31˚C in the day to 24˚C in the night. CELLULAR NETWORK There is a telecommunications relay tower at village on Aur Island, which is operated by Maxis. 3G and 4G services can be intermittent. Guests may wish to purchase Maxis prepaid SIM cards at Mersing jetty prior to their ferry departure. Cancellation & Amendment Should there be a change in your travel plans, surcharges will apply for the following: • Cancellations and/or Amendments made more than 30 days before the scheduled departure will be charged at RM150 per person per booking. • Cancellations and/or Amendments made less than 30 days before the departure date will be charged at 50% of the total fare. • There will be no refunds for no-show. * In the unlikely event that we will have to cancel any booking, SEA Expedition Sdn. Islands in Malaysia are famous around the globe with its beautiful nature, culture and sparkling blue seawater. Malaysia boasts some of the most beautiful islands. An amazing number of these natural treasures lay nestled in tranquil bays and coves. Beneath the aquamarine waters lies a fascinating world of coral and marine life waiting to be discovered. Island development in Malaysia started to be developing tremendously due to the high number of tourist arrival to the island. Many hotel, resort and chalet had been built by the investor and the government agencies. Natural areas were explored when tourism development had been carried out. These physical developments come with tourism activities which led to the some impacts and challenges to the coral reef. The main objective of this paper is to examine the environmental impact of island development in Malaysia focus on the coral reef and to find which activities of development affecting coral communities. This preliminary study had been conducted by collecting all the possible secondary data from various sources like Department of Marine Park, Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) and Ministry of Tourism Malaysia. This pilot study is crucial for first step of conservation action and can benefits all parties in tourism sector, from hosts to tourists, authority body, researchers and many more.

These amalgams of nature based have brought a great potential to the local communities and destination economically through business opportunity and becoming tourism entrepreneur. This paper empirically investigates on tourism entrepreneur’s characteristics and motivation in pursuing ecotourism businesses in Tasik Kenyir. The data for the study were handed-collected by survey questionnaires and the result shows that ecotourism operator in Tasik Kenyir were male dominated and between age of 31 to 40 with 100 percent Malay operators. They were motivated by the ‘pull factors’ as opposed to the ‘push factors’. These findings concur that tourism industry through ecotourism products in Tasik Kenyir benefited the local community by generating employment and income which realizing the Malaysian government objective to increase the participation of rural populations in tourism-related activities.
