The South-eastern Anatolia Project (GAP) has been implemented in the southeast part of Turkey, covering 9 provinces and the two most important rivers of Turkey. The main purpose of this gorgeous project is to uplift the income level and living standards of people in the region, to remove the inter-regional development disparities and to contribute to the national goals of economic development and social stability. The cost of the project is 32 billion USD consisting of 13 sub-projects in the river basins of Euphrates and Tigris. The project has evolved over time and has become multi sectoral, integrated and human based on the sustainable regional development. Upon the fully completion of the project, 1.8 Million hectares of land will be able to be irrigated in Euphrates and Tigris Basins through surface and underground water resources. From 1995 until now, 273.000 ha. of land have already been irrigated within the GAP Project. Roughly 739,000 ha. of this land will be irrigated from Atatürk Dam, the largest dam of GAP Project. At present, nearly ¼ of this area is under irrigation. Some technological developments have been experienced in the Project area, ranging from upstream controlled schemes having trapezoidal section, lined or unlined, to upstream controlled schemes having high pressurized piped system; and from conventional methods to drip irrigation method. -

Minerals can be found in a wide variety of consumer products including paper, medicine, processed foods, cosmetics, electronic devices, and many more. And of course, everything made of metal is also derived from minerals. 49 | Lab 2: Mineral Properties and Non-Silicate Minerals As defined in the introductory chapter, a mineral is a naturally occurring combination of specific elements arranged in a particular repeating three-dimensional structure (Figure I4). “Naturally occurring” implies that minerals are not artificially made. Many minerals (e.g., diamond) can be made in laboratories, but if they can also occur naturally, they still qualify as minerals. -

Each type of rock is formed from an assemblage of minerals. Minerals are the basic "building blocks" of rocks, and the recognition of common minerals and rocks is an essential part of the study of geology. A mineral is defined as a chemical element or compound that is a naturally-occurring crystalline solid and is formed as a result of inorganic processes. The terms "rock" and "mineral" are often erroneously used interchangeably. It is important, therefore, to emphasize the key differences between these materials. A mineral is a substance formed by nucleation and growth in an “orderly, three dimensional array.” It is relatively continuous and homogeneous, with a set chemical composition or range of compositions. A rock is an aggregate of minerals with possible wide variations in chemical compositions and crystal structures. A mineral can be represented by a chemical formula, while a rock cannot. Although there are over 3000 minerals that have been discovered, fewer than 30 make up the bulk of the earth's crust. These are called the rock-forming minerals, and are the ones you are most likely to encounter in the rocks around you. -

INTRODUCTiON ‘A countrY SWEPT BY CHILLY GUSTS OF FROSTY snowstorms’ It is true that we dwell within the boundaries of this northern country, which is swept by chilly gusts of frosty snowstorms and which had been frozen especially through the darkness of our spirits’ former ignorance – a country where even after the dawn of the Evangelical light we had lingered for ages unreached by its rays. Yet, when the Sun of justice deigned to visit us from the heights through the valiant fortitude and the sufferings of the most blessed Gregory, the holy Enlightener and Christ’s Confessor, it was with strokes of godly admonition and with miracles of divine wonderworking that he brought this people, and this kingdom of Armenia, from ignorance to the knowledge of the true God. However, Oliver Watson has recently proposed that the demand for Islamic 22 January 2015 glazed pottery first occurred in Egypt and Syria in the 8th century AD resulting in the production of Accepted 3 February 2015 opaque yellow decorated wares. Using a combination of SEM analysis of polished cross-sections, and Available online 14 February 2015 surface analysis using hand-held XRF or PIXE, Coptic Glazed Ware from Egypt, Yellow Glazed Ware from Syria, and comparable wares from Samarra, Kish and Susa have been analysed.
