Sandton Precinct Crime Trends - Period: 2018-08-13 to 2018-08-19

SECTOR 1: (Edenburg; Gallo Manor; Khyber Rock; ; Sunninghill; Woodlands; Woodmead) Category: Theft out of motor vehicle was the main crime committed in the Sector this week. Times: Times of crimes were mainly between 16:00 to 20:00. Days: Majority of crimes were committed on Friday. Pertinent Detail: In a carjacking incident that occurred at Henry Road, Edenburg on 2018-08-17 at about 14:20, the victim was at the driveway when blocked by a silver VW Polo. She was approached by three males and told to get out of her vehicle. The suspects got into her vehicle and drove off. Investigation continues.

SECTOR 2: (Brecknock Ah; Bryanston; ; Lonehill; Paulshof; ; Rietfontein; River Club) Category: Robbery was the main crime committed in the Sector this week. Times: Times of crimes were mainly between 12:00 to 16:00. Days: Majority of crimes were committed on Friday. Pertinent Detail: In a carjacking incident that occurred at William Nicol Drive and Grosvenor Road, Bryanston on 2018-08-19 at about 14:20, the victim was at the robot when approached by three males. One male was armed with a firearm. The suspects got into his vehicle and drove off. Investigation continues.

SECTOR 3: Benmore Gardens; Dalecross; Dennehof; Duxberry; Hurlpark; Little Filian; Moodie Hill; Morningside, Morningside Manor; Morningside Ext 40; New Brighton; Parkmore; Sandown; Sandhurst; Strathavon; Sunset Acres) Category: Armed robbery was the main crime committed in the Sector this week. Times: Times of crimes were mainly between 16:00 to 20:00. Days: Majority of crimes were committed on Tuesday. Pertinent Detail: In a robbery incident that occurred at Grayston Drive and 5th Street, Sandown, on 2018-08-14 at about 18:50, the victim was stationery at the robot when two males knocked on the window with a firearm. He was robbed of his belongings. The suspects fled the scene. Investigation continues.

SECTOR 4: (Buccleuch; Eastgate; Kelvin; Kelvin View; Kramerville; Marlboro North; Wendywood; Wesco Park) Category: Robbery was the main crime committed in the Sector this week. Times: Times of crimes were mainly between 08:00 to 12:00. Days: Majority of crimes were committed on Saturday.

Pertinent Detail: In a house robbery incident that occurred at Mandy Place, Buccleuch on 2018-08-19 at about 11:24, the victim was inside the house when he heard a loud bang. He was approached by a male. The suspect pointed at him with a firearm. The suspects were four in total. They then ransacked the house and took electrical appliances. They got into their white Opel Corsa and drove away. The burglar door was forced open to gain entry. Investigation continues.

SUCCESSES This Week: Two suspects were arrested for illegal possession of ammunition.
