This internet tool is credited with more than 300 million active users. Today, social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are invaluable forms of communication – it’s fast, it’s easy, it’s free and the audience is huge. About a year ago, Northeast Community Mercy Associate Erin Saiz Hanna created a Facebook page for Catherine McAuley. It was done on a whim to entice her friend, Sister Marianna Sylvester, to join Facebook. The Mercy Associate morning after Catherine’s page went live, however, Erin was shocked to Erin Saiz Hanna find Catherine had 200 Facebook friend requests from around the world. To date, Catherine’s Facebook friends number over 3,100, and this number Facebook Statistics continues to grow daily. (Marianna joined many months later.) • Average users have 130 Erin spends approximately 15-30 minutes each day maintaining the site – friends on the site accepting friend requests, answering messages, posting ways to get involved • The fastest growing with Mercy ministries, and sharing Mercy news coverage received through demographic is individuals Google RSS feeds. Catherine belongs to 66 group pages and is a fan of 22 who are 35 years old and older pages, all of which are directly connected to Mercy ministries or schools.

In partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Theology awarded by Regis College and the University of Toronto. © Copyright by Elizabeth Mary Davis 2019 Reading with our Foresisters: Aguilar, King, McAuley and Schimmelpenninck— Early Nineteenth-Century Women Interpret Scripture in New Ways for New Times Elizabeth Mary Davis Doctor of Theology Regis College and The University of Toronto 2019 Abstract Biblical hermeneutics today is marked by increased attention to women’s experience and voices in interpretation, the illustration of alternatives to the historical-critical approach to create a plurality of interpretation as the interpretive norm, exploration of the social location of earlier interpreters, determination of authority for biblical interpretation, and expansion of hermeneutics to include praxis (a manifestation of embodied or lived theology). This thesis shows that these elements are not completely new, but they are actually embedded in scriptural interpretation from two hundred years ago. The exploration of the biblical interpretation of four women—Grace Aguilar, Frances Elizabeth King, Catherine McAuley and Mary Anne Schimmelpenninck—who lived at the same time in the early nineteenth century in the same geographic region and who represent the spectrum of readers of the Bible, concludes that the interpretive works of these four women were prototypical of and anticipated these elements. ii To guide this exploration, the thesis appropriates the construct of the hermeneutic triangle, examining the social location of the four women, their texts about the Bible and the hermeneutic by which they interpreted the biblical texts.

    City of Methuen Open Space & Recreation Plan for the 2020s Mayor Neil Perry Spring 2021 An Open Space & Recreation Plan for the 2020s and A New Century for Methuen This Methuen Open Space & Recreation Plan Update process has taken place during the worst pandemic in more than a century. The Covid-19 crisis has upended plans and routines, created stress in daily lives, interrupted school calendars, forced event cancellations, caused prolonged economic disruptions and changed how we interact with each other as a community. Everyone has been affected in some way. One year after the initial lockdowns and closures in mid-March 2020, the pandemic toll in the U.S. surpassed more than 500,000 deaths. In Methuen, as of the beginning of March 2021, 13% of the City’s population were infected, a total of 6,502 cases, and we have mourned the loss of 71 residents. After a year of Zoom meetings, hybrid remote/in-person school schedules, work from home mandates, business restrictions and social distancing, Covid fatigue has long settled in and a yearning for a return to normalcy is universal. Open spaces and walking trails provided some needed relief after the initial Covid wave as Methuenites were encouraged by late Spring 2020 to get outdoors, mask up and stay six feet apart. With the rollout of vaccine distribution at the end of 2020 and early 2021, Methuen looks forward to a safe reopening and once again booking community calendars with sports events, band concerts, recreation activities, parades and celebrations. Later this decade in 2026, Methuen will be marking the 300th anniversary of our founding as a community.
