'DAP Okayed Kidex - Why Oppose Now?' Malaysiakini.Com Jun 30, 2014
'DAP okayed Kidex - why oppose now?' MalaysiaKini.com Jun 30, 2014 MCA has slammed Selangor DAP assemblypersons for their vociferous criticism of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex), pointing out the party was part of the same exco that approved the project in 2012. "It was the Selangor state executive council that gave the approval to Kidex. “DAP state assemblypersons should stop blaming the Selangor Menteri Besar (Abdul Khalid Ibrahim) on the Kidex issue as he alone cannot legally approve Kidex," Petaling Jaya Utara MCA division Youth chief Andy Lee Vee Meng said in a statement today. Lee said among the DAP leaders in the exco then were Teresa Kok and Ronnie Liu, besides Ean Yong Hian Wah and Teng Chang Khim (left) who are still exco members. First-term assemblypersons Yeo Bee Yin (Damansara Utama) and R Rajiv (Bukit Gasing),who were elected in 2013, have criticised Khalid for his supportive stance on the controversial project. Lee said for Rajiv, Yeo and others to claim they were not aware of Kidex for the past few years posed a big question mark, and he questioned their honesty and competency. “They did not consult the local residents before approving Kidex," he asserted. Freeze on land lots He said it was the same exco that published a gazette, on July 18, 2013, under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, freezing 3,784 land lots within 100 metres of the expressway’s proposed corridor from being traded. It was only based on this approval that the proposed highway owner, Kidex Sdn Bhd, signed the concessionaire agreement with the federal government in November 2013, Lee added. -

Crisis Committee Issue: Transition of Power in Malaysia Student Officer
Shanghai Model United Nations XX 2018 | Research Reports Forum: Crisis Committee Issue: Transition of Power in Malaysia Student Officer: Wesley Chiu Position: Crisis Chair Mohamad Sabu (Minister of Defense) From a culinary graduate to the Minister of Defense, Mat Sabu’s rise in Malaysian politics is widely considered as one of the most bizarre journey. Sabu, unlike many other military personnel, is a charismatic and holistic leader who constantly speaks out racial and religious tensions in Malaysia. Despite not being a typical military officer, Sabu has a grand vision for the Malaysian military. With the deteriorating state of most equipments and the rapidly advancing military technology, Sabu intents to implement a whole scale change in the military by brining in drone aircrafts and introducing the use of Artificial Intelligence into the military. However, understanding that the government is currently on a tight budget, Subu recognizes that his vision might take a certain level of patience before becoming a reality. Mohamed Azmin Ali (Minister of Economic Affairs) While it is true that the Malaysian people has just elected a new Prime Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali has been tipped to become the long-term solution to Malaysian leadership. A relatively reserved and quiet politician, Azmin has been involved in Malaysian politics for 30 years. Like many other progressive politicians in the current administration, Azmin shares the same worry about religion and racial devision. However, as the head of the Minister of Economic Affairs (a newly created ministry in the current administration), Azmin is more troubled by the economic aftermaths of failed programs such as the BR1M. -

Interfaith Scroll 7 9-25-18 Print
Bill Ford, Executive Chairman Jim Hackett, CEO Ford Motor Company, Dear Mr. Ford, and Mr. Hackett, In 2011, Ford Motor Company was part of a historic breakthrough in cooperation on climate solutions when the company supported the Clean Car Standards, which would raise fuel eciency standards to an average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. As people of faith who care for Earth and all of its inhabitants, we cheered this progress. Then, under the current Administration, Ford began lobbying for a review of the standards, asking for “additional exibility” in meeting them. Despite the debt Ford owes to the American taxpayers for billions of dollars to invest in advanced vehicle manufacturing, you now seem ready to go back on your commitment to cleaner cars for American drivers. This is unconscionable. We call on you to stand by the Clean Car Standards. The Ford name carries a legacy of innovative technological advancements for the good of society. The Clean Car Standards gave Ford an opportunity to continue this legacy of innovation and bolster its stated commitment to sustainability. We hoped that Ford would look to the future and compete with China and Europe on the clean cars of tomorrow, while cleaning up our air at home and saving families money at the pump. Today, the transportation sector is the single largest and fastest growing source of carbon pollution in the U.S. Cars and pickup trucks account for 47 percent of oil used in the United States and nearly one third of our greenhouse gas emissions. This trend makes the Clean Car Standards we adopted seven years ago even more prescient and important. -
