The Keeping Kids Safe (KKS) program of Rotary District 6190 evolved from a recognized need to provide identification for children or adults unable to speak for themselves in the event of an emergency or an accident. Today, a number of circumstances could necessitate this need—natural disasters, traffic accidents or school emergencies. KKS identification is in two forms—a luggage tag containing a fold- over insert or a stick-on label. These can be placed on a diaper bag, back pack or car seat for easy access by emergency services. Rotarians can provide these to doctor’s offices, day care or pre-K cen- ters, special schools, churches or other places where parents can easily obtain them. (Above) Rotarian Laurel Brightwell, shown here with Autumn (one of the teach- ers) distributed KKS ID tags to every child at Noel Methodist Children’s Center. This Center cares for children between 2 months and 4 years of age with an after school program for elementary students.
