The field trip below has been scheduled for the East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors and will commence at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the:

EBRPD Administrative Headquarters 2950 Peralta Oaks Court Oakland, California

Anyone planning to join the field trip at Peralta Oaks should arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. It is anticipated that the group will return at approximately 3:00 p.m.

Depart Peralta Oaks 9:00 a.m. From Peralta Oaks, take 1-580 west. Keep right at the fork and continue Highway 13 north. Drive 5.4 miles. Take exit 5C to Highway 24 East/Walnut Creek. Drive 3 miles and take Exit 9 toward Orinda/Moraga. Turn left onto Camino Pablo. Drive 9.5 miles on Camino Pablo (road turns into San Pablo Dam Road). Turn left onto Clark Road. Drive 0.3 miles to the end of Clark Road and park in the graveled lot at the Park District entrance gate.

Arrive at Clark-Boas Staging Area, 3800 Clark Road, Richmond 9:45 a.m. Parkland Unit Manager Dan Sykes and Park Supervisor Patrick McIntyre will discuss the recent Measure CC project at the Clark-Boas trailhead, involving trail repairs, pruning work, and new fencing and gates. This trailhead is the only official trailhead on the east side of Regional Park.

Proceed back down Clark Road. Turn left on San Pablo Dam Road. In 1 mile turn right on El Portal Drive. Turn left onto Interstate 80 on-ramp. Merge onto I-80 West. In 1 mile, take Exit 17 for McBryde Avenue. Turn left on McBryde Avenue. Drive uphill for ¼ mile and take slight right onto Park Avenue. In 0.2 miles turn left into the Alvarado Staging Area. Park in the staging area.

Arrive at Alvarado Staging Area, 5845 Park Avenue, Richmond 10:20 a.m. The Board will gather in the staging area parking lot to hear a presentation from District Acting Fire Chief Aileen Theile. She will speak about the recently completed fuels management project in the Eucalyptus Grove at the “recommended treatment area” (RTA) number WC005, which is adjacent to the staging area. She will also display maps of the next proposed fuels treatment area in Wildcat Canyon Park, at RTA WC003.

In addition, Parkland Unit Manager Dan Sykes and Park Supervisor Patrick McIntyre will show the Board the location of the Measure CC-funded project to install a new waterline and vault toilet at the Alvarado Staging Area. This construction contract was recently awarded by the Board. The project contract also includes the repair of a 2.5-mile section of Wildcat Creek Trail, by re-grading it and adding gravel to create an all-weather access trail. Note: There is a restroom available at this location.

Leave the staging area and turn right on Park Avenue. Drive 500 feet and turn left onto McBryde Avenue. Take the first right on Arlington Boulevard. Follow Arlington Boulevard for 4.3 miles (follow yellow center line). Turn left on Westminster Avenue. Turn right on Kenyon Avenue. Turn right on Purdue Avenue. Turn left on Beloit Avenue. Turn right onto Grizzly Peak Boulevard. Turn left on Wildcat Canyon Road. In 250 feet turn left onto Canon Drive. Drive down the hill for 0.4 mile. Turn left on Central Park Drive. You will see the parking lot for Big Leaf Picnic Area straight ahead. Park in the parking lot.

Arrive at the Big Leaf Picnic Area in Tilden Park 11:25 a.m. Lunch** at picnic area. Park Supervisor Sergio Huerta and Unit Manager Dan Sykes will be available to answer questions about other current projects and operations at . Note: There is a restroom and water at this location.

After lunch, head south 500 feet on Central Park Drive. Turn left at Lone Oak Road (Group Camps Access Road). Park at the Lone Oak Parking Area.

Arrive at the Lone Oak Parking Area 12:20 p.m. Park Supervisor Sergio Huerta and Unit Manager Dan Sykes will provide an update of the ongoing project to install a new Measure CC-funded vault toilet building at this location and discuss 2 other toilet buildings that will be installed at the New Woodland and Wildcat View Group Camps.

Drive back up Lone Oak Road. Turn left onto Central Park Drive. In 0.9 miles turn left on Lake Anza Road. In 500 feet, turn left on Brook Road. Park at the Orchard Picnic Site.

Arrive at Orchard Picnic Area 12:40 p.m. Park Supervisor Sergio Huerta and Unit Manager Dan Sykes will provide an update on the Measure CC-funded project to provide renovated picnic facilities, stairs, pathways and landscaping at this picnic area.

Drive ½ mile further down Lake Anza Road into the upper parking lot at Lake Anza. Drive down the park service ramp to the Lake Anza swim complex. Park in front of the kiosk.

Arrive at Lake Anza Swim Complex 1:05 p.m. Park Supervisor Sergio Huerta and Unit Manager Dan Sykes will introduce the Measure CC-funded project that rebuilt and improved the kiosk at the Lake Anza Swim Complex, which now includes digital fiber connectivity and a point-of-sale credit card system.

Return to vehicles. Drive out Lake Anza Road. Turn left on Central Park Drive. In 0.4 mile, take left fork onto Wildcat Canyon Road. In 0.7 mile turn right on Shasta Road. In 1,000 feet turn left on Golf Course Drive. In approximately ½ mile, stop at turnout along Golf Course Drive.

Arrive at Recommended Treatment Area TI012, Golf Course Road 2:00 p.m. District Fire Captain Brad Gallup will provide an update on the project area adjacent to Summit Road that will be treated in the recently approved fuels treatment contract, in a portion of RTA TI012.

Return to vehicles. Drive back down Golf Course Drive. Turn right on Shasta Road. Turn right on Wildcat Canyon Road. Turn right at the “Y” intersection onto South Park Drive. In 1.5 miles, turn left onto Grizzly Peak Boulevard. In 1.5 miles, turn left onto Fish Ranch Road. Follow signs to Highway 24 west, toward Oakland. Go through the Caldecott Tunnel. Take exit 5A to Hayward/Highway 13 south. Proceed 6 miles on Highway 13 south, then merge onto I-580 east. Take exit 29B, Foothill Blvd. /106th Avenue exit. Left on Stanley Blvd. Left on Foothill Blvd. Left on 106th Avenue. Right on Peralta Oaks Drive.

Arrive at EBRPD Headquarters 3:00 p.m.
