  • Boccadasse Testo
When you leave the turmoil of the city and come to Boccadasse, you are under “ the impression of returning to the cradle or falling into your mother‘s arms. The anxiety of life seems to melt a little, and you feel that the ancient peace and harmony are still here, in the intimacy of its beautiful sea. “ GENOA The Municipality of Genoa, the largest one in Liguria, extends on an area of approximately 244 square kilometres and consists of a thin coastal strip over 42 km long, overlooking the Ligurian Sea and surrounded by hills and moun- tains. Genoa, the principal town of Liguria, is a modern cosmopolitan metropolis, now undergoing a process of important economic, social and urban transformations. Genoa, along with Venice, Pisa and Amalfi, was one of the maritime republics that dominated the Mediterranean and European scene during the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. At that time Genoa was also known as “Superba” and " Dominante dei Mari", thanks to the position of dominance that reached at international level, especially in the economic and commercial fields. Today the city is looking for a new identity, between the glory of a distant past, linked to the navy and to the trade, and the tremen- dous challenges of the third millennium, in the role of the third largest Italian industrial area, for what concerns the fields of marine craft, clothing, technology and scientific research, as well as being a major tourist and cultural cen- tre. In the town center you can see some of the most beautiful palaces in Europe, inscribed in the Unesco World Heritage Sites.

AETAS VIAGGI – TEL. + 39 06 71 58 40 64 – [email protected] – www.aetasviaggi.com GENOA AND THE CINQUE TERRE The Cinque Terre is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It is in the Liguria region of Italy, to the west of the city of La Spezia, and comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the centuries, people have carefully built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea. Part of its charm is the lack of visible corporate development. Paths, trains and boats connect the villages, and cars cannot reach them from the outside. The Cinque Terre area is a very popular tourist destination. Day 1: Arrival in Genoa. Guided tour of the historical center: the Romanesque-Gothic Church of S. Lorenzo, with its beautiful interior frescoes and the famous chapel of the Baptist, Piazza De Ferrari with the Opera House and the Academy of Fine Arts, the Church of Jesus, a fine example of Baroque, including works by Rubens and Guido Reni, the Ducal Palace, seat of the city government, now used as a major art exhibitions. A short climb leads to the Medieval Gates and the House of Columbus. A few steps away we find the noble Piazza S. Matteo with palaces now included in the lists of the UNESCO heritage of humanity. Continue to Piazza Campetto and Via degli Orefici, full of old shops and bakeries, to reach Piazza Banchi, dominated by the characteristic Church of S.

  • The Post Pandemic City: Challenges and Opportunities for a Non-Motorized Urban Environment
sustainability Article The Post Pandemic City: Challenges and Opportunities for a Non-Motorized Urban Environment. An Overview of Italian Cases Luca Barbarossa Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture, University of Catania, 95125 Catania, Italy; [email protected]; Tel.: +39-95-7382528 Received: 7 July 2020; Accepted: 24 August 2020; Published: 2 September 2020 Abstract: COVID-19 has forced city governments to reconsider the relationship between mobility, urban space and health in order to ensure physical distancing while meeting the travel needs of inhabitants. Therefore, cities around the world are already involved in the transformation of mobility through new models of sustainable transport. The World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines on mobility during the COVID outbreak are mostly directed at creating more spaces for cyclists and pedestrians, especially in densely populated urban areas, thus avoiding the overloading of public transport and the use of private cars. Through the analysis of the programs set up by the 10 main Italian metropolitan cities, chosen as a case study, this research evaluates the response implemented by local governments in order to transform urban environments in one of the world’s most pandemic-affected countries in detail. Starting from the current mobility model, this paper focuses on local government policies concerning post-COVID sustainable mobility to understand policies, approaches and measures in depth, as well as the effectiveness of the ongoing actions in shaping future urban mobility. From the research, an almost homogeneous awareness among policy makers and planners emerges concerning the need to rethink urban spaces and mobility, to make up for lost time and to start a green revolution that is aimed at quickly decarbonizing urban transport and enhancing cycling and walking through the city.

  • Simply Excellent Arts and Crafts of Liguria
Arts and Crafts of Liguria Simply Excellent an initiative of LIGURIA with the contribution of with the cooperation of Regione Liguria AND TO THINK THAT SOME ONLY COME FOR THE SEA. Of course, in Liguria the sea is capable of arousing strong emotions. But just try and turn round and amazing land will swing its doors open. All year round, cities, towns and villages offer an array of initiatives thought to enhance and complete an already impressive cultural and an artistic heritage. In Genoa, like everywhere in Liguria, festivals, exhibitions, as well as cultural, theatrical and music events are very frequent occurrences indeed. And the many museums provide yet another opportunity to discover the local traditions and history, as well as international painting and art. ) a o n e G ( e l a e R o z z a l a P A publication of Confartigianato Liguria (the Ligurian Association of Small Businesses and Crafts - men), this book is an additional tool for the promotion of the ‘Made in Liguria’ concept, its first edi - tion focusing in particular on those craftsmen and small businesses which are not only capable of making products of great quality, but can also represent a cultural and tourist attraction. The Liguria Regional Council has been championing the recognition of excellence in Liguria for many years, especially with regard to traditional quality arts and crafts, and that is why we felt it would be appropriate for us to support the idea of a Guide designed not only to promote the indi - vidual businesses and their products, in the context of their territories of origin, but also to point readers towards those workshops that open their doors to visitors, leading them through a journey of rediscovery of working methods that often originate from age-old traditions.
