Mark Stanislawski As we enter 2019, I have been reflecting on our past year’s accomplishments, as well as what I want to see for our station in the coming months . We had an exciting 2018, but I sincerely believe the best is yet to come . We continue to work hard to bring you programming from quality sources around the world, and we have big plans for 2019 . In December, we upgraded our translator equipment as part of the federally mandated television channel repack . This meant that we stopped transmitting on channel 42, and are now using channel 34 for our over- the-air broadcast in the Rogue Valley area . It also meant we upgraded our equipment to have more transmission power . During the switchover, we experienced unforeseeable problems, and we want to thank all of you for remaining patient during those issues . While this process was an inconvenience for a short time, just know it actually improved our broadcasting capabilities to continue meeting the needs of our members . Moving forward, we have some exciting new programming . This month we premiere the much-anticipated Season 3 of Victoria on Masterpiece . If you haven’t seen the first two seasons, they are available on PBS Passport . We are also re-airing Season 2 this month as we lead up to the Season 3 premiere, Sunday, Jan . 13 at 9 p .m . In addition to Victoria, we have new episodes of NOVA, Nature, Finding Your Roots, Shakespeare & Hathaway, and Antiques Roadshow coming up this month . I am also happy to say that we have a new Jeffersonian scheduled Monday, Jan . 14 at 9 p .m . (Students at Southern Oregon University produce The Jeffersonian .) Again, if you haven’t seen earlier episodes of The Jeffersonian, make sure to check them out on Passport or on our website at www .soptv .org/Jeffersonian . As always, I would like to thank all of our members for your continued support . Our work could not be done without your help . Thank you from everyone at the station . I hope this new year brings you health and prosperity . Warm regards, Mark Stanislawski President & CEO 4 — SOPTV’s Mission — As an independent media voice, Southern Oregon Public Television enriches our understanding of the past, enlivens our present and prepares us for the future by connecting our community with quality local and national programming that educates, enlightens, inspires and entertains. Surprised me because I generally like this genre, and so expected the usual plus extras after reading about the series and the author; annoyed because I was looking forward to having 75 books in the series! Simenon does this by varying venue, many of his stories take place outside Paris, but especially through the quirky characters he introduces into his stories.
