No. 6-seeded Utah will compete against second-seeded Oklahoma, No. 3 seed LSU and No. 7 seed Alabama in its semifinal. The meet at Dickies Arena will NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS be televised live on ESPN2 with Bart Conner and Kathy Johnson Clarke serving as the Apr. 16 NCAA Semifinals 4 p.m. talent. Apr. 17 NCAA Finals 1:30 p.m. The first semifinal of the NCAA Championships features top-seeded Florida, along with No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 California and No. 8 Minnesota. The four teams will com- pete at 11 a.m. MT/12 p.m. CT on ESPN2 prior to Utah’s session. The top-two teams UTAH GYMNASTICS COACHES from each semifinal will advance to the NCAA Championship finals on Saturday, Apr. 17, competing at 1:30 p.m. MT and televised live on ABC. Head Coach: Tom Farden Year at Utah: 6th/11th QUICK HITS Record at Utah: 128-34-1 (6th year) • Utah posted the third-best score of the NCAA Regional Finals to qualify for its 45th- Career Record: 198-82-1 (11th year) consecutive national championship. • Utah is only school to qualify for all 39 NCAA Gymnastics Championships and is Assistant Coaches: making a record 45th consecutive trip to nationals dating back to the 1976 AIAW Championship. Carly Dockendorf (3rd/4th overall) • The Utes have won nine NCAA Championships and 10 total national titles (1981 Garrett Griffeth (2nd year) AIAW). Utah has finished as the NCAA runner-up eight times—most recently in 2015. • Utah drew the same rotation order as it did in the NCAA Regional Second Round on Volunteer Assistant Coach: Apr. 2; beam, floor, bars, and vault. Courtney McCool Griffeth (2nd year) • Utah is 1-1 this season against the teams in the semifinal. Utah lost to Oklahoma in the second meet of the season, while picking up the win over LSU in the Regional Fi- nal on Apr. 3. This will be the first meeting for Utah and Alabama since the 2017 NCAA UTAH GYMNASTICS STAFF Championships. The 197.925 is the highest score in Utah history at an NCAA Regional, breaking Athletic Trainer: Melissa Linstrom (1st year) the previous record of a 197.675 set in 2009. Strength Coach: Cody Lockling (2nd year) • Sydney Soloski has recorded 11-consecutive scores of 9.90 or better on floor, reach- ing the mark in all but the season opener. UTAH ATHLETICS COMMUNCIATIONS • Maile O’Keefe has posted four 9.95s in a row on beam, scored a 9.90 or better in 11- of-12 meets on beam, and has not gone below a 9.875 this season on the apparatus. The Sooners led the then-third place Bruins by .175 entering the final rotation, but the UCLA women would not be denied. Building on the momentum gained from senior Peng-Peng Lee’s perfect performance on the uneven bars, the Bruins moved to beam and scored a Super Six and championship record 49.7500 in the final event to win the competition 198.0750-198.0375. “This team truly is the easiest team that I’ve ever coached,” UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field said. “That is because this time last year we said if we need, if we want, a different result we’ve got to do things differently, and what started that was me and our coaching staff just getting real with the team about getting as physically fit as you individually can get and making choices outside of the gym, those of a champion.” UCLA’s epic final beam rotation began with a big score of 9.9375 by Grace Glenn.
